The Landscape Architect practice builder will have an entrepreneurial spirit and create a vision for growth for their practice and contribute to the growth of the site civil discipline for the San Diego office. They will lead the business development effort with local architects and developers and manage the relationship with these key clients.

Markets are not limited by geography but driven by relationships. Leadership responsibilities include: operating with integrity and sound business principals, providing practice vision, business planning and strategy, establishing goals, building and maintaining positive client relationships, open communication with partners and team, along with growing and directing a land development practice.

Our Practice Builders are expected to manage projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, grow and mentor staff, help recruit, and be a positive role model. Management responsibilities include but are not limited to; meeting or exceeding client expectations, identifying and tracking leads, making presentations, writing proposals and a scope of work, establishing budgets, ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables, and supervising the execution of work.

Requirements:

  • Extensive client contacts and relationships with local or national architects, developers, land use attorneys, planners and land owners as well as local jurisdictional staff

  • 15 or more years of diversified experience in growing and leading a practice in the San Diego market (residential, commercial, industrial and/or institutional)

  • Successful track record of winning work

  • Business development and marketing experience including; writing proposals, scopes of work, and budgets for projected work

  • Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to manage and mentor staff, and direct resources effectively in a positive manner

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably

  • Ability to cross sell multiple disciplines

You will perform both conventional and moderately-complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline. The Engineer at this level is proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices, and Company procedures. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations, is expected. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status. * Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses. * Provides support for other engineering activities as required. May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance. * May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-size project. * Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project. Requirements : * 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and 8-10 years plus of related work experience with road & highway / transportation systems projects engineering and design. * Experience with Microstation is essential. * A PE License is required.
