Senior Landscape Architect

Full-time position available with the Parks Department, Planning and Engineering Division, located at 4600 E 63rd St.

Salary Range: $5,794-$8,833/month

Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.

• Develops project scope and estimate.

• Manages changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs.

• Reports and escalates to manangement as needed.

• Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation.

• Manages grant projects.

• Interacts with the public through meetings.

• Designs or hires a design consultant team, bid, and provides project oversight.

• Includes high-profile projects for spraygrounds, playgrounds, walking trails in parks, regional linear trails, federally funded transportation enhancement projects, commemorative benches, streetscape projects, green infrastructure projects, park master plans, dog parks, athletic fields, shelters, restrooms, and sports and pedestrian lighting projects.

• Uses AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite.

• Performs additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture or horticulture and 3 years of responsible experience in the practices of landscape architecture, horticulture or related.

Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
