JOB SUMMARY

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, collecting, preparing and processing specimens biological specimens. Assists in performing laboratory activities and other assigned tasks.

Aids in preparing laboratory specimens and supplies. May be responsible for entering laboratory orders and results. Ensures the accuracy and quality of laboratory data in a safe and professional work environment. Expected to train and onboard new employees.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Adheres to established internal standards and procedures abstracted from Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Demonstrates an understanding of the underlying concepts and values of a service organization. Displays strong personal commitment to organizational success, inspiring others to commit to shared goals.

Follows pre-established patient safety guidelines. Maintains cleanliness or sterilization of self and objects in order to prevent infections. Participates in collecting and processing specimens (e.g. blood) according to test requests.

Presents a professional image, especially when dealing with customers. Promotes organizational learning through knowledge management, training and development, and sharing key experiences. Seeks opportunities to help others learn as teacher, coach, and mentor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Phlebotomy certification required or registry eligible to take exam within 12 months of hire. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required. One year of laboratory related experience preferred.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS * On the job training * Seeking self-motivated, driven person to work in our Sanford Medical Center location. This position is a part time position of 36 hours every two weeks, working rotating day and evening shifts rotating between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm along with rotating weekend shifts all year round.
