The Technology Group of The Federal Reserve Bank of NY is seeking an experienced professional to work on planning and development of Fedwire applications.

Applications include Securities, Funds, NSS and Settlement front-end business lines as well as a range of backend applications supporting critical business functions

Your role as Senior Java/Jee Technical Lead:

This is a hands-on position requiring current development experience.

As a lead member of the Application Development staff, the candidate would lead a technical team and participate in the development and implementation of internal and mission critical external distributed applications. The position is for an experienced Application Developer who has very strong experience leading, developing and implementing applications using the J2EE architecture. The candidate will be involved in the entire project life cycle (requirements review, technical design, development, deployment and maintenance).

What we are looking for:

  • Relevant work experience in Java/J2EE distributed application Development. Includes strong experience with various J2EE components and services

  • Candidate must still be hands-on and able to code as needed.

  • Experience working with Spring framework and good understanding of AOP concepts.

  • Experience with Financial Services applications including high volume, real time transaction processing system.

  • Strong experience with enterprise class application development and support. Including performance tuning, monitoring and troubleshooting of complex applications.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL, stored procedures (PL/SQL) and database fundamentals (Oracle preferred).

  • Strong analysis and design skills, including requirements analysis, OO design patterns.

  • Deep knowledge of common JEE design patterns.

  • Deep knowledge of open source frameworks.

  • Experience with building and delivering mission critical, fault tolerant applications

  • Minimum five years of experience with Messaging (MQ/JMS) based Integration applications.

  • Strong understanding of Application resiliency, security, scalability and general performance concepts.

  • Keen understanding of performance issues and end to end debugging capabilities.

  • Working knowledge of WebSphere or Eclipse IDE;

  • Ability to lead a team of 3-5 developers on various work streams and guide them on development tasks, perform code reviews and ensure design and coding are adhering to architectural standards.

  • Experience with MS Project or other project planning tools and ability to create and monitor work activities as part of a larger project.

  • Experience with continuous integration including automated unit testing, automated builds and code quality metrics.

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple business and technical teams.

  • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel and productivity tools

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.

Strong problem solving and analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to assimilate new information, understand complex topics and arrive at sound analysis and judgment.

Additional Skill:

Java/J2EE, Spring (Core/MVC/Integration/Batch), WAS, JDBC, Hibernate/JPA, SQL, Junit, JMS, REST, Maven

Oracle, Freemarker, ehCache, Active MQ, Jenkins, Sonar, Quartz, Sparx, DBunit/Mockito, Subversion, knowledge of Financial Services industry is a plus.

A working knowledge of the NIST Cyber Security Framework will be beneficial for this role. * We are seeking someone with strong communication skills to collaborate with different stakeholders from various organizations.
