POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Server Engineer is a technical leader within the Information Systems department leading strategic and operational infrastructure initiatives. Position is responsible for the design, build, monitoring, and maintenance of all physical and virtual servers that support medical faculty, clinical staff and administrative support in patient care, teaching and research activities.# This position requires proficient and demonstrated technical and analytical skills for administration and maintenance of servers and the systems that reside on them. Identifying and leading enhancement opportunities to infrastructure systems for value-added services. # This position is responsible for providing strategic and tactical infrastructure solutions, assisting leadership with vision and roadmap including but not limited to; Active Directory, operating systems, hardware platforms, virtualization, databases, security, and storage solutions. #Hands-on configuration, installation, maintenance, and backup of all servers and system data, and providing project support in the timely completion of IT projects, milestone dates, and deliverables.#Problems encountered are of a high level of difficulty and can usually be solved through self-knowledge or with assistance from other experienced Server Analysts. This position requires a proficient level of analytical skills, innovation and creativity to install and support systems.# An elevated degree of analytical skills, innovation and creativity is necessary to formulate and implement the mechanisms to identify and solve problems.# # A wide variety of internal and external contact relationships are required for this position. Developing and maintaining good communication with contacts are key to accomplishing the goals and objectives of the organization. EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor#s Degree (relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of) LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Advanced Certification within an applicable technical area. i.e. Microsoft, Cisco, EMC, VMware or Citrix is Required.# A valid driver#s license is required for this position EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: 10 years relevant experience 3 years relevant experience in healthcare setting preferred Design, implement, and support server infrastructure including physical servers, virtual servers, virtualization technologies, and infrastructure support tools. Manage, support, and maintain server hardware, operating systems, and software in a primarily Windows-based environment Work with users at various level of the organization to determine requirements for operational needs and information processing options Perform continual assessment of available hardware/operating system enhancements and requirements to facilitate continued improvements in software capability as required to meet the goals as prioritized Participate in a 24x7x365 on call rotation Support vendor applications systems in server environments Assure existing systems meet security requirements, are functioning properly, and processing effectively according to the objectives Analyze and use available tools to provide status reports to Management Perform testing of new operating systems and protection software prior to implementation Assist faculty and management staff in the analysis of Information Systems options to meet research and educational needs as it relates to server technology Coordinate with other team members and preparing for implementation of new applications Provide support for data center operations Perform administration tasks in Active Directory Lead disaster recovery planning and testing, including backups and restores Ability to interact with and work around people Ability to make judgments in demanding situations Ability to react to frequent changes in duties and volume of work Effective communication skills Ability to listen empathetically Ability to logically organize details Comfortable accepting responsibility for medium to large scale projects involving multiple resources and spanning many months from start to finish Ability to manage multiple concurrent activities # Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion UW Health is committed to being a diverse, inclusive and anti-racist workplace and is an Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer.
