Senior IT DevOps Engineer role is based within Wholesale Credit Risk IT , HOST. They will be involved in change initiation, design and delivery, through to benefits realization and will have support of senior project managers in order to succeed in their role.

The Senior IT Engineer will hold most or all of these responsibilities:

  • Be accountable for the design and development of platforms and software that meets the complex, strategic business needs for a large transformation programme.

  • Lead and work with a global team of engineering resource across various technologies platforms (full stack), of which include direct day to day oversight, guidance and decisions on Iseries platform related technologies, COBOL ILE, API , Cloud based development and Mongo DB development and deployment.

  • Leading cross functional Technology PODs to build banking capability with a mix of engineering staff onshore in India , remote in technology centers with some satellite teams scattered around the world.

  • Ensure alignment of the teams with technology and architecture strategy.

  • Provide technical knowledge and insight to peers and colleagues

  • Contribute in teams using agile and scrum methodology

  • Ensure integration of the software with monitoring and support tools

  • Review and give constructive feedback on others' code

  • Be an effective bridge between Technology and Business, articulating complex technology to the senior management at Global CIO and senior business leadership level

  • Support product and departmental managers in communicating strategy and product fit and effectiveness to stakeholders at all levels

  • Ensure that the team's technical product documentation is always complete, accurate and coherent.

  • Ensure troubleshooting and resolution of issues throughout the product life-cycle including out of hours support for incident resolution

  • Define, lead and encourage continuous improvement of the team's delivery and development processes

  • Work with project, product leads to design software and create implementable specifications and tasks at product and roadmap level

  • Learn new technologies and keep abreast of existing technologies and help introduce them where appropriate

Observation of Internal Controls

  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.


  • Minimum of ten years' experience in building, supporting, modifying and maintaining systems and code developed by self or others.

  • Extensive experience designing and writing robust software for large scale software applications

  • Expertise with iseries platform and COBOL and RPG ILE technologies

  • Expertise in working with a relational database (e.g DB2 ) as well as well as document database Mongo DB.

  • Experience with programming in Python.

  • Experience with engineering on microservice based design and architecture.

  • Experience with full stack engineering and deliveries including integrations into core banking services

  • Expertise with mainstream development and deployment tool chains

  • Experience of open source practices and API infrastructure

  • Experience of agile, DevOps and introducing and enhancing environments utilising these methodologies and approaches

  • Expertise in different testing approaches and practices

  • Leadership experience of project working and professional software development processes, including agile

  • Expertise in choosing and applying design patterns

  • Effective leadership and collaboration inside and beyond the team. The ability to influence diverse and senior stakeholders effectively

  • Takes responsibility for driving products and system to success


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science or related field.

  • Minimum of five years' experience in a combination of credit risk business systems development and general credit lending business.

  • A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change

Wind Tunnel test programs that support the various phases of an aircraft's development. Responsibilities Due to the security requirements for this position, US Citizenship is required. * Support execution of aerospace testing operations in accurate and efficient manner. Organize test objectives and requirements and communicate them to the test crew. Verify and validate aerodynamic test data. Monitor progress and provide feedback to the test crew. Maintain close coordination with the customer. Communicate status to leadership. * Develop detailed project plans. Generate test requirements, including those pertaining to investigating, evaluating and developing new applications for existing equipment and systems. Maintain close coordination with the customer. Communicate test requirements and plans to project team. Monitor, control, and provide feedback on projects cost and schedule performance. Qualifications Minimum Education / Experience: * Bachelors and 5+ years of experience in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline; * Masters of Science in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline; * A combination of education and experience equivalent to above; * Due to the security requirements for this position, US Citizenship is required. Preferred Knowledge / Ability: * Experience with wind tunnel operations. * Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). * Application of project management concepts (budgets, scheduling, etc). * Experience with data acquisition, signal conditioning and instrumentation. * Ability to read, interpret, and manage engineering plans and specifications. * Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage abstract and concrete variables.
