Senior IT Applications Engineer

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening Senior IT Applications Engineer at our Cleveland, Ohio Corporate Office. The IT Engineer provides technical expertise and support in Planning, Quality, and Logistics applications for both the Steelmaking [CCSL] and Mining [CCI] companies. The Engineer designs, develops, and supports technical components of Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack either On-Prem or Cloud. The Engineer has applications expertise and applications development lifecycle knowledge that is leveraged to develop specifications, test scripts and documentation associated with the application. The Engineer develops programs, scripts, interfaces, procedures and configures the system to provide business functionality. The Engineer trains and mentors more junior IT Applications Engineers and provides technology domain expertise to the organization.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Provide input and support in the evaluation and selection process for application packages, and advise on options, risks, costs, benefits, and impacts of technical architecture and business processes.

• Responsible for all phases of design, estimation, development, and documentation of programs, scripts, procedures, interfaces, and system configuration.

• Work directly with internal &/or external clients, team members, and other IT areas to establish secure data analytics platforms and infrastructure.

• Create written functional, architectural, and technical specifications.

• Provide technical and analytical support for applications and associated layered products.

• Coordinate with software vendors as needed to resolve problems and develop solutions.

• Provide guidance and training for junior level employees.

• Support system administration, security and user set up.

• Coordinate activities with project managers, business analysts, enterprise architects and business users as required on projects.

• Understand how the application technology supports and optimizes business processes.

• Develop and execute test scripts for unit, integration, regression, and other testing scenarios.

• Participate in the establishment and management of technical standards.

• Support system patches and upgrades.

• Support the development of future technology direction and strategy.

• Drive continuous improvement.

• Support the development and execution of disaster recovery tests and planning.

• Maintain applicable professional certifications and current technical knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Information Technology course of study, or equivalent degree

• 10+ Years of development experience using Microsoft Technologies including:

• Object Oriented Programming

• .Net / .Net Core

• C# &/or VB.net

• MVC

• SAP Business Objects

• JavaScript / JQuery / Angular JS

• SQL Server Developer

• Oracle Developer

• Entity Framework

• Systems Analysis Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Created written functional, architectural, and technical designs.

• Led small to medium sized projects.

• Worked directly with clients, other IT teams, and team members.

• Proven track record of working in production environments and responding quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.

• Provided applications support.

• Worked on new development efforts.

• Worked with third-parties on the development and implementation of projects.

• Provided technical team leadership.

• Application project management.

• Contingency and disaster recovery planning.

• Estimating in support of project budgeting, resource staffing, workload planning and adjustments throughout the project lifecycle

• Worked in a manufacturing company.
