The Senior Investment Accountant will have a heavy workload during quarter-end and year-end requiring additional commitment and will be responsible for two separate technical accounting frameworks: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) generic to all industries, as well as Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) which is unique to the insurance industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Process daily investment related securities and cash transactions

  • Assists in the preparation of investment portfolio reports including STAT and GAAP financial statements, core investment earnings reports and ad hoc reports as required by management, various regulatory departments and rating agencies.

  • Work with external and internal auditors.

  • Creates and reviews complex accounting entries.

  • Researches and determines appropriate accounting rules

  • Provides input on work product of less-experience staff.

  • Evaluates workflows/processes across departments/designs workflows.

  • GAAP Financial reporting on a segment and consolidated level, external SEC reporting for public company, FINRA reporting for broker dealer.

  • Ensure appropriate accounting and analysis for the comprehensive range of accounts including cash, investments, expenses, insurance products and equity accounts.

  • Develop and maintain SOX compliance internal control structures over general ledger and financial reporting.

  • Work with Business Partners on strategic initiatives new products, required system changes, changes in accounting regulations.

  • Coordinate and direct responses to External Auditors and State Regulators. Monitor, interpret and maintain compliance with changing technical rules and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree plus four to six years of accounting experience. Master's degree preferred.

  • Prior experience in an investment accounting role preferred.

  • Prior experience in the insurance industry preferred.

  • Working knowledge of alternative investments

  • Working knowledge of Pam for Investments or CAMRA Investment Accounting System.

Department – Digital Investment: Our Digital Investment teams are critical in bringing our media plans to life. Meat and Potatoes: Assist Senior Associate and Manager on plan development and recommendation development, including: * Assist the Senior Associate and Manager in negotiation process * Work with Research and Analytics to collect relevant information on past performance * Help provide data and background for the development of Point of Views of relevant partners and opportunities * Meet with industry representatives to gain insight to all phases and points of contact of media partners Work with the Senior Associate and Manager on implementation and optimization of campaigns, including: * Keep up to date on all communications with planning team including buy authorizations, tracking reports, buy changes, creative specifications, etc * Assist Senior Associates and Managers to enter final buys into proprietary system and issue insertion orders * Work with planning team and ad ops to traffic campaigns * Ongoing management and stewardship of campaigns * Work with the Analytics and Research team on reporting and analysis Benchmark and value reporting * Coordination and input on standard buy campaign reporting * Ensure accurate and timely vendor invoice approval and reconciliation with Finance teams * Update financials * Assist with client financials such as budget reconciliation and budget management What you've already conquered: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Bachelor's degree, preferably with a concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, and communications Although no media planning experience is required an internship with an advertising/media agency is strongly preferred Comfortable working with budgets and numbers Excellent verbal and written skills Exceptional organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities and detail oriented Mindshare Usa, LLC Springfield IL
