The Marketing Capabilities and Functional Excellence team is looking for a talented, motivated and experienced person to lead communications efforts aligned to our functional goals; creating connections across our marketing function, improving ease of work for marketers and unlocking new capabilities to advance marketing excellence at Medtronic.
The Senior Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for understanding the strategic vision for Marketing Capabilities and Functional Excellence. Accountabilities include leading the internal campaign content and media mix for the overall marketing ecosystem capability development and effectiveness efforts aligning marketer content with the capabilities roadmap, ensuring all communications media and forums model high standards of our global brand, business strategy and goals. This person will lead the cultural change messaging to Medtronic marketers as we launch processes and tools required to build marketing excellence at scale driving a prioritized marketing engagement program through definition, creation, communication, and training.
This role interfaces with the Marketing Leadership Council, which includes global marketing leadership representation from Business Groups, Regions and Functions. The Senior Internal Communications Specialist collaborates with the global Medtronic marketing team to develop, build, communicate and train marketing capabilities aligned with Medtronic Mission, strategy and business goals.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Serve as the Communications lead for the MarketMakers program designed to improve ease of work for marketers and unlock new capabilities that will advance marketing excellence at Medtronic.
This high visibility marketing role will lead strategic communications and engagement plans to drive desired outcomes. As a core member of the Marketing Capabilities and Functional Excellence team, this role will develop the communication, learning objectives, and communication channel strategy creating awareness, engagement, and activation of change initiatives.
All communication to marketing teams will align to the three tenets of MarketMakers:
Make work easier: communicating best practices, employing a common vocabulary to talk about our marketing work, training on common, proven, set of tools and templates.
Create a connected marketing community: engaging marketers through networking opportunities for sharing insights and advice, heightening awareness of existing networking and communication channels, developing new channels and forums, and establishing more ways to recognize great marketing work.
Build a strategic, future-thinking organization: highlighting use of external and customer insights, competitive intelligence, reputation, and advancing marketing capabilities.
Collaborate with global marketing teams to incorporate feedback mechanisms and success measures into communications and engagements to evaluate effectiveness, using the information to adjust strategies and tactics as needed.
Success in this role will include defining the media channels, and governance needed for communications across the Marketing Capabilities and Functional Excellence portfolio, including supporting the implementation of new systems/tools, and ease of access to resources to help marketers accomplish objectives.
As the Senior Internal Communications Specialist, you will collaborate closely with Global Communications and Marketing team members across multiple disciplines (Corporate / Business Group / Region / Functions, Internal and External Communications, Global Brand) to leverage messaging, tools and approaches and coordinate execution of plans. In this role, you will partner with enterprise change management resources and marketing companion teams to coordinate change and communication plans. Communication to marketers will highlight benefits for global marketing teams in service of our Company mission and build marketing wide program adoption.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Nice to Have
Master's Degree in marketing or communications
Experience in building training and development programs
Experience in developing communications to support change initiatives
Experience leading cross functional project teams
Experience working with or establishing shared services, optimizing marketing functions or standing up new marketing capabilities
Data analysis and reporting experience
SharePoint, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
Eloqua, Workday, Qualtrics experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Presentation, influence and persuasion skills
Comfort in facilitating discussions and presenting to senior management
Ability to synthesize complex information
Self-motivated and bias to action
Articulate, clear thinking, creative and inquisitive
