Position Overview

Protective Insurance is seeking a Senior Auditor for its Internal Audit Department in Carmel, IN. The ideal candidate will utilize excellent attention to detail while performing operational audits. This position has visibility throughout the organization and requires interaction with multiple departments and management.

Primary Duties

  • Complete assigned operational audits, including testing and documentation of the results

  • Meet with operational management to thoroughly understand assigned processes

  • Assist in the development of audit programs and testing procedures relevant to risk and test objectives

  • Obtain and review evidence ensuring audit conclusions are well-documented

  • Identify and communicate issues, offering recommended solutions relevant to business and risk

  • Ensure audit conclusions are based on a complete understanding of the process, circumstances, and risk

  • Supervise intern and staff auditors, providing guidance and review of work, as needed

  • Coordinate with and assist external independent auditors as requested

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or other related field (150 hour criteria)

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or work completed toward such designations required

  • 2 4 years of audit experience in either a public accounting firm or public company strongly preferred

  • Exposure to financial services or property/casualty insurance industry preferred

  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good presentation skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a business group and motivate others

  • Detail-oriented with effective time management skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Prepare work papers reflecting the results of audit assignments.
