The Senior Auditor will be responsible for assisting with the general oversight of internal audit functions for the corporation. The Senior Auditor will participate in ensuring that the annual audit plan is achieved by performing the required testing and review of business controls and operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and perform operational, financial, or IT internal audits under the direction and supervision of the Vice President

  • Develop audit programs and testing procedures relevant to risk and test objectives

  • Identify and communicate issues raised, offering recommended solutions relevant to business and risk

  • Prepare formal audit reports of audit activities

  • Assist in supervising staff auditors assigned to engagements, providing guidance and review of deliverables

  • Provide assistance to the Vice President in Sarbanes Oxley compliance work

  • Assist Vice President with annual planning

  • Assist in performance of annual Risk Assessment

  • Ensure adherence at all times to all applicable department and professional standards

  • Travel required (up to 35%)

  • Perform other duties/responsibilities as requested by management

  • Bachelor's degree (Accounting) from an accredited institution required

  • Five to seven years prior internal or external audit experience required

  • Audit experience for a public company is preferred

  • Professional designation such as CPA, CIA or CISA required

  • General knowledge of auditing standards and SOX 404 is required

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, & Word required

  • Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills required

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills required

  • Must be able to work independently

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs

  • The work environment is a quiet, professional office. Additionally, the department must adhere to strict deadlines. As a result, overtime is required during certain critical times. And, flexibility is important, as the need to work overtime is not always anticipated in advance.

Responsibilities * Serves as System Owner of the Sarbanes Oxley compliance software tool for the consolidated company ensuring completeness and accuracy of configuration and data across all subsidiaries and financial business processes. Performs user acceptance testing on system upgrades to revalidate completeness and accuracy. * Administers the Sarbanes Oxley compliance business process ensuring that critical business cycle documentation is kept up to date, progress on testing of primary controls is within the required timeline, and business process system owner notifications/ communications are generated timely. * Designs and performs testing of primary internal control activities. Applies independent judgment to test results in order to assess significance of deficiencies. Coordinates with Director of Internal Control, business process owners, and division Vice Presidents to identify feasible remediation plans for deficiencies. * Performs independent review on SOX testing performed by others (Internal Control Analysts, contractors, accounting employees, interns), including management assessments and user controls related to critical 3rd party service provider SOC reports. * Supervises and manages the Internal Control internship program, when applicable. * Maintains Master Gap List of identified control deficiencies, related risk, level of significance, and status of remediation. Coordinates remediation efforts with Director of Internal Control, system owners and division Vice Presidents. * Collaborates with business cycle process owners to identify internal control improvements for existing processes and new internal control activities required for new business initiatives within scope of SOX. * Analyzes financial data and business processes for evidence of deficiencies in primary internal controls, duplication of effort, fraud, or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations, management policies and procedures. * Manages property insurance claims and premium audits, working closely with third party broker, insurance adjusters, salvage company, and the Chief Accounting Officer. * Coordinates the corporate Enterprise Risk Management Program (ERM) within the established program framework to identify Top Tier Risks and to document and track risk remediation by Risk Owners. * Serves as backup for critical Financial Reporting and equity administration tasks, executing time sensitive responsibilities on behalf of the Manager of Financial Reporting as needed. * Participates in Internal Audit projects and special projects. * Serves as a key point of contact with external auditors on information requested in conjunction with the integrated audit and quarterly reviews including extracting, preparing, and providing data requested. Qualifications B.A. or B.S. in Accounting or Finance required. Professional certification (CPA, CIA, CFE, etc.) preferred.
