  • Produces Intelligence Reports that proactively analyzes global financial crime risks, trends, and topologies.

  • Undertakes high-level sectorial, jurisdictional, and risk assessments.

Impact on the Business

  • Pre-emptively and proactively assists in identifying financial risk.

  • Produces timely and actionable intelligence to help mitigate risk related to financial crime, money laundering, and terrorist finance.

  • Collaborates with intelligence and investigations teams to address and communicate financial risks globally.


  • Analyze HSBC data and research analytics, tactical intelligence reports, and investigations output, as well as open sourcessuch as press, industry, and academic reportingto identify emerging risks relating to financial crime.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Authors high-level strategic assessments of financial crime risk facing the bank, including forecasting and horizon scanning for emerging trends stemming from broader geopolitical or economic factors.

  • Tailors analytical production for an executive audience by distilling complex, tactical information into high-level assessments that can be digested quickly and efficiently.

  • Collaborates across functions and business lines to build a full picture of risk, including previous and current tactical intelligence analysis, applied analytics, and investigations production.

  • Develops a reputation among stakeholders as a thought leader in a given topic by interfacing early and often and making frequent in-person presentations of analysis.

  • Compose clear and concise assessments from extremely complex or data-driven results.

  • Build subject matter expertise in financial crime issues spanning multiple areas of the bank.

  • Establish reputation as subject matter expert among stakeholders and bank executives.

Observation of Internal Controls

  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.

  • Communicates control weaknesses to other group leaders and business management in accordance with issue escalation procedures.

  • As appropriate for the role, ensures alignment with regulatory requirements, the Compliance of FIM, HNAHs BSA/AML Policy, other Group policies and all related policies and procedures.


  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze data and qualitative information to draw solid conclusions about risks facing the bank, as well as strong writing skills to present complex analysis in an easily digestible form.

  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal, organizational, decision-making, communication, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality and adhere to established deadlines.

  • Proficiency with personal computers and pertinent mainframe systems and software packages. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Who you are: You're an experienced and technical Senior Business Intelligence Analyst interested in applying your quantitative skills to challenging questions within a data-intensive, information SAAS business that drives innovation across multiple sectors.
