Your Challenge

We are currently seeking a talented Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our growing Knoxville office.

Your Challenge

  • Translate design sketches, layouts, and notes into finished CAD construction drawings.

  • Prepare drawings, diagrams and sketches of special items for use by drafting personnel.

  • Review and check detailed drawings and layouts.

  • Write I&E design project scope of work.

  • Complete walk downs and estimates for projects.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

The Skills and Knowledge You Bring

  • 15-20 years of I&C and Electrical Design experience with the refining and/or petrochemical industry.

  • Strong understanding of instrumentation and electrical controls.

  • Good to Strong AutoCAD Skills & SPI

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office software, Adobe software

  • Experience in Delta V (M-Series / S-Series). Traditional I/O, Remote I/O and Charms

  • Experienced with design drawings: P&IDs, Plan Drawings, Installation Details, I&C & Electrical Specific Drawings: Loops, One Lines/Three Lines, Wiring Diagrams; Schematics, conduit and cable tray layouts, pressure, temperature, flow, density, and other instrumentation, instrument loops, PLC and DCS.

  • Able and experienced with walking down proposed installations in industrial facilities. (Both new and retro-fit)

  • Experience with I/O detail wiring and termination

  • Experience specifying instruments and creating instrument data sheets

  • Outdoor design experience, able to wear required PPE and drive safely to job-site for field measurement, verification and as-built of drawings

  • Strong language skills (written and oral)

  • Possess strong computer skills, especially in Excel and Word

  • Possess excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to thrive in a team working environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills

Job Details: Job Summary: Build electronic cables, harnesses and panel assemblies using CMP processes, procedures, engineering drawings and specifications. Assumes responsibility for his/her own safety as well as the safety of others. * Read and build to production drawings * Identify and document problems on assemblies and suggest solutions. * Assemble electronic components, subassemblies, products, or systems. * Solder and install components on PC Boards. * Crimp pins, using both hand and semi-automatic crimping tools. * Solder a variety of electrical components. * Use heat guns to install heat shrink and/or solder splices. * Strip wire using thermal, hand and semi-automatic strippers. * Operate required machinery and equipment in a safe manner following established safety rules, maintains a neat and clean work area, follows established tool and instrument control/calibration procedures, and reports and unsafe acts or conditions to management. Minimum Job Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent with electrical assembly experience preferred. Solder certified. ESD certified. Skillful in all aspects of wiring. Understand manufacturing and quality control processes. Ability to lift at least 20 lbs. PPE required: safety shoes, safely lifting techniques, safety gloves, safety glasses, ANSI respirator and adequate ventilation, and static dissipative shoes or ESD straps when performing certain functions of the job.
