WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Inspector to be based out of Glastonbury, Connecticut office. Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
Review plans, shop drawings and approved submittals for construction.
Perform QC/QA inspections of contractor operations for conformance to plans, proposals and specifications.
Perform testing and sampling of materials and products used in construction. Ensure compliance with approved materials/specs.
Reviewing site conditions, material placement, adherence to quality and safety plans.
Writing detailed daily inspection reports including in place measurements, as-built sketches, quantity calculations and tracking of manpower/resources.
Must be willing to work nights work and weekends
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Minimum 12 years of experience of inspection work on heavy highway projects
NICET III or BS in Engineering (PE License/FE certification are plus)
Past experience with construction inspection on CT DOT, MNR or other city/state agencies
Ability to read plans /specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), controlled inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work, keep track of work in place totals for all items of work including contract work, unit price work, extra work, and time and material work on a daily basis.
Advise senior staff of potential differences in field conditions and overruns.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, Excel and Site Manager
ACI Certification
OSHA Safety training
Drivers license and ability to commute to project sites
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
NETTCP Training in Concrete, Soils and Paving
AMPP (NACE/SSPC) Painting inspection certification
Experience working on erection/rehabilitation of structural steel and concrete
Experience working on traction power, communications and signals
MNR safety training is a plus
Additional certifications (CWI, bolting, safety) are a plus
