Performs time and motion studies using a standardized method (such as MOST), for both machine based and labor based operations optimization in manufacturing.
Creates and publishes manufacturing work instructions using PC based desktop publishing, CAD and other application programs.
Conducts studies of work centers of equipment and hand-pack operations to maximize workflow and eliminate bottlenecks.
Prepares throughput expectations and standard costs for new products and/or processes
Prepares layouts of shop floor processes and equipment to ensure optimal process flow and minimization of WIP inventory
Responsible for preparation, implementation, and training of manufacturing process documentation
Responsible for ensuring that assigned manufacturing processes meet all applicable safety and ergonomic requirements and best management practices
Recommends: capital improvements for new products and processes; tooling and equipment upgrades; and cost saving projects
Prepares capital expenditure requests (CAR/BKs), procures tooling and equipment, controls capital expenditures within the approved budget, and secures the planned payback on the investment
Responsible for participating in the preparation of expense budgets in assigned areas of responsibility in accordance with annual profit plan timetables and guidelines
Ensures conformance to quality requirements via proper manufacturing process design and execution
Identifies, recommends, and pursues cost savings initiatives from start to finish.
BS degree required
5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in a high volume/cost sensitive manufacturing environment.
Must be proficient in PC-based application programs including e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and desktop publishing (MS Office), project management (MS Project), and CAD (Auto CAD and SolidWorks).
