This newly created position will be involved in all aspects of US indirect tax compliance and acting as the primary contact and liaison with the Johnson Matthey US business units and external providers. The incumbent must be proactive, work well with other team members, and interface well with all levels within the company, as well as with external advisors and tax auditors.

Your responsibilities:

• Liaise with the business and external tax provider to ensure all required US sales and use tax returns and gross receipts returns are filed timely and accurately.

• Assist Businesses to develop and execute indirect tax policies and procedures including processes to gather and maintain customer exemption documentation, accrual, and remittance of use tax, and reconcile tax discrepancies with customers and vendors.

• Work closely with Project Manager and the Businesses to develop and refine tax tables for new and existing ERP systems.

• Assist with indirect tax audits, inquiries, and data gathering.

• Work to improve data accuracy and the processes for collecting indirect tax data.

• Stay current on tax developments and legislative changes and be able to communicate changes to upper management and the businesses.

• Gather information from the business and file quarterly excise tax returns.

• Liaise with the business and external provider to comply with unclaimed property tax reporting.

• Participate on the Due Diligence team as needed with respect to indirect tax implications of acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings.

Requirements for the role:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in tax/accounting

• 4-6 years' experience in a large corporate environment and/or public accounting in an indirect tax role

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Must be able to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet statutory and internal deadlines.

• Strong interpersonal, project management, analytical, problem solving, oral and written skills.

• Proven ability to work collaboratively with other team members and build professional rapport with other members of the company.

• Proactive in bringing forward tax planning, tax mitigation and sustainability recommendations.

• Strong working knowledge of SAP is a plus.

• Experience with Alteryx is a plus.
