We have an immediate opening in our Systems Integration Engineering Department for a Staff Hydro-Mechanical Engineer in Troy, OH.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Development and qualification of aircraft hydraulic brake and landing gear control system components including valves, sensors, manifolds, and cockpit controls.

  • Manage project life cycle from proposal phase to entry into service phase.

  • Develop and coach others.

  • Lead small technical development teams.

  • Develop specifications and interface documents, working with systems engineers, customers and suppliers.

  • Lead or actively participate in design reviews, communicate progress and plans, develop project schedules & cost estimates.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ years' experience developing hydraulic or pressure control components utilizing industry standards.

  • Developed and qualified hydraulic components.

  • Experience managing supplier-designed equipment.

Travel Requirements

  • 10%

Education:

  • BA/BS degree w/610+ years' experience OR
  • MA/MS degree w/47+ years' experience OR
  • PhD degree w/24+ years' experience

Preferred:

  • 15+ years' experience developing hydraulic flow and pressure control components for aerospace applications to DO-160 or Mil Std 810 requirements.

  • Has successfully developed and qualified hydraulic servo valves.

  • Well versed in flapper-nozzle, jet-pipe and direct drive valves.

  • Experience modeling valve and hydraulic system response in Matlab Simulink or other modeling software.

  • Demonstrated experience managing supplier-designed equipment.

  • Familiar with flapper-nozzle, jet-pipe and direct drive valves

Role Overview Sustaining project engineers are responsible for three core objectives, product improvements and upgrades, cost reduction/supply chain support and manufacturing support of production products. Primary Responsibilities: * Lead projects coordinating with the various support organizations to implement changes and demonstrate continued compliance to the equipment specification. * Lead cost reductions which are identified through a cross-functional group which evaluates cost reduction versus effort. * Evaluate the impact of the changes on the production product to ensure performance and service life will not be adversely impacted. * Disposition of material non-conformances, supplier change evaluations and design and specification changes to accommodate manufacturing processes that do not impact performance or service life. * Sustaining engineers need to have good problem solving and planning skills in order to drive projects to completion. * The engineer must also be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and learning on the fly as issues come from a number of customers and different levels of complexity Education / Certifications * Bachelor's degree; focus in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials or Aerospace Engineering Experience/Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree focused on Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering and five years' experience; Master's degree and three years' experience in an engineering role. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
