Provide senior-level hydrogeologic technical support to environmental investigation, remediation, and geotechnical projects and proposals, primarily in the areas related to geology, hydrogeology, remediation, fieldwork, and data interpretation/presentation. Capable of managing complex field programs.
Capable of in-depth evaluation of geologic, hydrogeologic, and chemistry data to reach sound technical conclusions and present/document findings in project reports using text, figures, graphs, etc. Assume responsibility for planning, execution, and management of complex projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned.
Provide senior level geology and hydrogeology input to projects.
Plan and oversee hydrogeologic investigations and remediation projects.
Assume senior technical, technical advisor, and/or management role for projects and/or programs.
Assume senior-level and supporting roles in proposals and marketing.
Provide direction to environmental field testing, sampling, and investigation field crews.
Maintain advanced skills/capabilities in regard to technical areas, especially in the areas of general hydrogeology and groundwater characterization/remediation.
Provide guidance to and mentor junior staff in technical areas (including but not limited to the fields of general geology, hydrogeology, and groundwater characterization/remediation) to build overall technical capabilities of Tetra Tech staff.
Project-level supervision and mentoring of junior staff. Project/program/proposal management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a geosciences field required, Master's degree (MS/MA) and/or hydrogeology-related academic experience preferred; 10+ years directly related professional experience and/or training in environmental geosciences-related work (advanced degree may serve as 1 year of experience), including a strong background in environmental site characterization (with an emphasis on hydrogeologic characterization) and groundwater remediation. Basic computer skills required, advanced skills desirable, including working knowledge of groundwater/contaminant transport modeling. Professional license (e.g., PG) is highly desired.
Ability to read, research, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical documents and procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedures suitable for client submittal.
Ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions from groups of coworkers, clients, customers, and the general public. Effective communication skills, both orally and in written form. Must be fluent in the English language - reading, writing, and speaking.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of algebra, solid and plane geometry, and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Strong background in mathematics and its application to quantitative analysis/problem solving, especially hydrogeologic quantitative analysis/problem solving, is required.
Ability to evaluate basic and complex issues, solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to provide, interpret, and follow a variety of guidance/instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Strong technical, writing, and verbal communication skills required. General computer, word processing, and spreadsheet capabilities are required, along with experience with using MicroSoft Office applications (WORD, PowerPoint, EXCEL, etc.). Knowledge/experience in computer-based, geosciences-related, graphics software, data evaluation software, electronic field data collection, and/or groundwater flow/contaminant transport modeling is desirable.
