Senior Hydrogeologist / Environmental Engineer

S&ME is seeking an individual to join our Environmental team in Greensboro, NC as a Senior Hydrogeologist / Environmental Engineer and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients. We are looking for someone with traditional environmental services experience such as site characterizations, hydrogeologic studies, Brownfields redevelopment, technical and compliance support for solid waste landfill facilities, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapor assessments.

Your Day-to-Day:

As a Senior Hydrogeologist / Environmental Engineer, you will:

  • Produce CADD Drawings and Author Deliverables: Utilize your technical skills to produce detailed CADD drawings and author proposals, reports, and deliverables that meet client and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead Projects from Start to Finish: Manage client communication, develop detailed proposals, oversee field operations, and ensure project financials stay on track. Your leadership will be key to project success.

  • Execute Detailed Field Investigations: Conduct comprehensive field investigations for complex projects, including groundwater sampling, soil vapor assessments, and surface water analysis, ensuring accurate data collection and interpretation.

  • Prepare Comprehensive Environmental Reports: Compile thorough reports, permit applications, and work plans, clearly presenting findings and recommendations to clients and regulatory agencies.

  • Drive Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, develop client relationships, and contribute to marketing strategies to expand our environmental services.

  • Mentor Junior Staff: Provide guidance and support to junior team members, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality work across projects.

  • Maintain Client Relationships: Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and they are satisfied with our services.

What You Bring:

  • A bachelor's degree in Geology or Civil / Environmental Engineering

  • 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina

  • Working knowledge of GPS location/surveying technology

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of various drilling equipment and techniques

  • Environmental logging experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail; and ability to meet deadlines

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word, and able to learn commercial software applications

With the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, this position will require working outdoors for extended periods of time and potentially traveling out-of-town for assignments.
