Job Responsibilities:

  • Translate product level requirements into subsystem/module/component design criteria.

  • Develop and execute design & verification of Subsystem/Module/Components on schedule and at required cost, quality and performance levels.

  • Own engineering release of subsystem design including component and module CAD, Drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).

  • Develop and capture knowledge required to deliver subsystem level requirements through Design Guides, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), Concept Selection Matrices (CSMs), Test Plans, A3's, Tolerance Stack Ups, Measurement Plans, and other documents.

  • Develop and own Work Plan/Schedule to deliver module/component deliverables according to planned milestones and project tollgates

  • Align current capability of architecture/supplier/manufacturing/customer solutions to meet attribute targets (Project Key Performance Indicators). Determine which current architecture/supplier/manufacturing/customer solutions are NOT capable of meeting attribute targets with current knowledge (Knowledge Gaps).

  • Develop module and component level cross-functional cost, quality and performance tradeoffs

  • Participate in and lead Technical Design Previews as needed.

  • Own engineering releases of module/components, and prepare engineering change documentation.

Function Overview:

Engineer will own the design, development, and execution of new hydraulic components and sub-assemblies, and will manage design tradeoffs between cost, performance, aesthetics, and other design attributes. Engineer will align current capability of architecture/supplier/manufacturing/customer solutions to meet product attribute targets, and identify knowledge gap closure plan for projects where current capability does not align to targets. Engineer will develop work plans to deliver module/components on schedule, on cost, on quality, and at required performance levels.

Engineer must demonstrate project management skills to drive projects through the design, testing, and implementation phase per the required project schedule, and will coordinate simulation plans and prototype build plans to evaluate design concepts through physical lab testing.

Engineer will work with cross-functional team members (Engineering, GCD, Manufacturing, Procurement, Marketing, Service, etc) to develop module and component level cross-functional cost, quality and performance tradeoffs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience

Preferred Requirements:

  • Injection Molding and Plastics experience

  • Proven Development and Execution Experience in Engineering Product Development from Concept to Design Release

  • Passion for problem solving and creation of reusable knowledge

  • Self-prioritization and organization with the ability to manage multiple projects

  • Self motivation and a desire to take the initiative to solve problems

  • Strong communications skills with a focus on detail and consistency

  • Outstanding people skills - including active listening skills, negotiation skills, presentation skills. Ability to interact confidently and credibly with customers, brand & marketing personnel, project teams, leadership teams, lab personnel and ability to influence and drive consensus

  • Desire to learn, develop and grow in your career

  • Hydraulics Experience

  • Cost & Quality experience

  • CAD experience is a plus (ProEngineer or Creo 2.0).

  • Windchill experience.

  • Lean Product Development, OPEX, Design for Safety/Reliability
