Job Summary
UT Southwestern is in search of a skilled and experienced Senior Controls Technician (SCT), otherwise known as an Engineering Technician III (ET III).
The SCT/ET diagnoses, repairs, calibrates, and adjusts electronic and pneumatic HVAC controls using tools of trade to ensure required temperatures, humidity and pressures are maintained in all campus buildings and hospitals. This involves responding to HVAC problem calls in critical spaces such as Operating Rooms, Patient Rooms, Pharmacies, Central Sterile, Research Labs, and other critical spaces found on campus. Operates computer-based Siemens Apogee automation system and other Building Automation Control Systems to include graphical front-end interface, building level control field panels, and terminal control units. The position is proficient in maintaining integrated proprietary control systems using multiple protocols including, but not limited to, Modbus and Bacnet.
Work Location: Dallas Campus, assist other UTSW buildings as necessary.
Shift Requirement: 1st Shift position (7:30am to 4:00pm), Monday through Friday.
Minimum Experience and Education Requirements
Requires High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Prefer an associate degree in electronic technology field or vocational school with completion of manufacturer's service course in repair and maintenance of temperature controls.
Requires six (6) years of work experience in HVAC DDC controls and related HVAC systems, including two (2) years as an engineering tech II or equivalent.

Job Duties
Diagnoses, repairs, calibrates, and adjusts electric, electronic, and pneumatic HVAC controls using tools of trade to ensure required temperatures and humidity to all campus buildings.
Knowledge of advanced programming in the Siemens Automation system to include complex lab controls, variable frequency drives, and integrated building HVAC systems.
Performs database management of HVAC field panels and controllers.
Installs DDC controls, programming, and graphics for renovations, upgrades, or system enhancement projects.
Troubleshoots programming of building HVAC systems.
Skilled in programming, commissioning, and graphic design.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in a laboratory or general office area.
Working conditions may involve moderate exposure to electrical shock, chemical fumes, or hazardous equipment or materials.
