The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our HR Data and Analytics Team. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enabling analytics across the HR organization, empowering data-driven decision-making.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling HCM data, working across various projects, and experience handling sensitive data. The qualified candidate will be able to create and maintain data pipelines, build data models, and optimize databases for delivery performance analysis. The successful applicant will have an in-depth understanding of data engineering and programming, experience in managing and working with large HR datasets (including Workday), and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

To be successful in this role, you should have excellent technical skills, be a creative problem-solver and have a passion for transforming data into meaningful insights. Above all, you should be a team player with excellent communication skills.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform hands on design and development to enable analytics across the HR organization and empower data-driven decision-making.

  • Drive the design and implementation of robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, reliability, and security for on-prem and Azure cloud solutions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data requirements and develop scalable solutions that optimize our technology products.

  • Leading and mentoring other developers, sharing your insights and best practices, and providing constructive and supportive feedback.

  • Develop business-centric data integrations and data models with minimal guidance working with complex requirements

  • Design and build an HR data platform, based on modern data warehousing/lakehouse practices, integrating data from multiple source systems, including cloud and on-premises applications such as Workday, employee listening tools, learning systems and broad HR technology stack

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and advancements in data engineering, and champion their integration into our processes and technologies (especially as it relates to HR technology).

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field

  • 5 years of hands on experience in HR data engineering role- specifically in People or HR data integrations, sourcing, modeling

  • Big Data Tools: Kubernetes (K8s), Hadoop, Spark, Postgres, Databricks, Azure cloud offerings including (Azure Synapse, ADLS, Azure Functions)

  • Very good understanding of HCM data architecture, models and data pipelines

  • Experience designing and implementing data integrations and ETLs with Workday (RaaS, APIs)

  • Expert on Databricks platform

  • DLT Streaming Pipelines, Workflows, Notebooks, DeltaLake, Unity Catalog, Dashboards
  • Highly proficient with querying relational databases and/or Hadoop (expertise with SQL, Hive, Python, etc.)

  • Familiar with implementing various sourcing methods (File, SOAP and REST APIs, etc.)

  • Understanding of handling SPI Data (Sensitive Data)

  • Familiar with Encryption methods and Tools (GPG, Voltage, etc)

  • Experience with different authentication methods (Basic Auth, Oauth, etc)

  • Experience in implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as ADO, GitHub, etc.

  • Experience performance tuning queries and overall solutions

  • Experience sourcing into large data warehouses

  • Azure certification

  • Experience in large scale data integration implementations

  • Strong problem solver with ability to evaluate a challenge and understand solution patterns

  • Experience building re-usable data integration frameworks and patterns

  • Designing scalable solutions across multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work with multiple teams across functions and domains with

  • Familiar with Agile Philosophies and Tools

  • Possess strong business acumen, with the ability to understand and analyze business processes, objectives, and challenges

  • Effectively communicate with business users to gather requirements, understand their needs, and translate them into technical solutions

Compensation:

The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role is $137,000 to $214,300. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

  • This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
