The Wells Fargo Data Technology group has an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the MIDE (Mortgage Integrated Data Environment) analytic environment to be used for advanced analytics, risk and compliance reporting, and decision support. Working with technical teams and business partners to understand the requirements and data consumption needs, you will design, implement and manage data acquisition and load processes spanning multiple environments, including Teradata and Hadoop, in support of strategic Home Lending business initiatives.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead analysts and developers to ensure priorities are being solved for our business and technical partners

  • Ensure business needs and objectives are solved for in the technical requirements and data solutions

  • Collaborate with analysts and developers to design, implement, automate and manage data acquisition and load processes

  • Build and maintain the necessary and mandated controls and procedures to ensure data accuracy and business functionality

  • Create project sizing's and assumptions

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling; or a Masters degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling
  • 5+ years of information technology design experience including systems, applications or architecture
  • 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: data management, metrics & business intelligence, data warehouse
  • 5+ years of SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) experience
  • 2+ years of mortgage, banking, or financial services experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • 3 + years of experience supporting or designing complex ETL production environments

  • Knowledge and understanding of Teradata

  • Teradata experience

  • Hadoop experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of Agile

  • Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies: used in waterfall or Agile development projects

  • Experience with one or more Agile tools used for tracking user stories or backlogs, such as VersionOne and Team Foundation Server (TFS)

  • Experience successfully collaborating with others in a change driven environment

  • Knowledge and understanding of relational database concepts, querying, data warehousing, ETL process, requirements gathering and/or decision support tools

  • Experience documenting non-technical business requirements and translating into technical rules

  • Experience delivering results in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment

  • Ability to motivate staff to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment

  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a variety of contacts, including business users

  • Experience in leading teams and working in a positive, collaborative manner within cross disciplinary teams

  • Experience delivering technical business needs within a high pressure environment with short timelines

  • Standard first shift hours

  • An understanding of the big picture to develop a strategic perspective is important to balance with the ability to dive into the details. Often it may be critical to support team members who seek guidance with project assignments.

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed or scheduled

As part of the core Customer Genome team, you will collaborate with other data scientists to generate innovative ideas, define analytical needs, create hypothesis, conduct data discovery, evaluate data quality, design quantitative analyses and experiments, build statistical models and machine learning algorithms, and generate business insight.
