Senior Highway Engineer

Job Description

Dewberry is a leader in the transportation and highway design market and is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer in our Bloomfield, NJ or Mount Laurel, NJ offices. The candidate must have a BS degree in Civil Engineering, a NJ PE license, and 7-10 years of experience working on NJDOT and/or NJ Turnpike Authority projects. Responsibilities include supervising staff, document production, monitoring budgets and schedules, marketing and preparing proposals, and interfacing regularly with clients. Project management experience, knowledge of design of highways and roads, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Candidates must have the ability to manage, supervise design teams, and coordinate with clients. MicroStation experience is required, InRoads or similar experience is preferred. Experience with other software utilized in the design of highways desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and perform all facets of highway engineering including design of horizontal and vertical geometry, utility relocations, development of maintenance and protection of traffic schemes, preparation of right of way and coordination of drainage design, traffic signals and electrical/lighting systems for a variety of project types and clients.

• Monitor budgets and schedules

• Prepare contract bid documents including: Plans, Specifications, and Cost Estimates

• Prepare proposals to provide professional services

Required Skills & Required Experience

• BS in Civil Engineering is required

• Registered Professional Engineer in NJ

• 7+ years of experience in highway design

• Experience with MicroStation required, InRoads preferred

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record
