Overview of the role:

Squarepoint is looking for a qualified trader with 5-10 years of trading experience (sell side, buy side or combination) to join its investment team based in London. This candidate will help build out a new and growing team at Squarepoint focussing on high touch trading and syndicate. This is quite a unique opportunity to join an innovative, global and multi-billion dollar organization.

Required Skills:

  • Keen understanding of the buy side /sell side dynamic, specifically as it relates to high touch Equity trading

  • Trade execution across various platforms

  • Knowledge of global market structure and its impact on trading

  • Strong, verifiable relationships within the sell side trading community (bulge brackets as well as regional/boutique firms) preferred

  • Proficiency in Excel and Bloomberg

  • Ability to multitask

  • Clearly and effectively communicates with strong written and oral skills

  • Strong math, statistics, data analytics and/or programming experience a plus

The teams are located directly on the trading floor with the appropriate desks. This team is engaged in trade ideas and execution of mostly G7 Rates in 4 main product groups: cash bonds, financing of cash bonds, listed derivatives, and OTC derivatives. The clients covered range from the very macro to the very micro in market focus (e.g., Central Banks and Pension Funds all the way to Micro Hedge Funds) -- so the whole spectrum of clients. This is an "agency" desk in the sense SG can trade and access prices any where we wish outside (and inside) of SG. The Macro Relative Value Group (MRVG) does not carry inventory and everything is run on a matched-book basis. This type of setup -- an "agency" platform that resides side-by-side with a "principal" platform -- within the context of an A-Rated Bank with a large balance sheet is unique on the Street. The current MRVG is composed of Sales/Traders with an average of 15 years of experience. Mission The VIE will join the trader assistant team in charge of, among others, * Managing intraday risk analysis on pure FO metrics (i.e. metrics not part of RISQ and regulatory framework) like Greeks and sensitivities to different risk factors (Spot, Volatility, Dividend, Repo, Forex etc), non-official VaR and stress tests and pre-trade simulations. * Computing estimated End of Day PnL and product repricing * Producing report for trading and trading management * Producing daily and weekly dashboards to better monitor the trading activity (corporate actions, product lifecycle, position reports, …) * Answering Front Office ad-hoc request and reporting * Developing tools to optimize processes or scarce resources using programming languages (VBA, Python, javascript, …) for macros and IT teams for the global industrialized tools * Liaise with other departments to work on transversal and regulatory projects * Other processes of interest to MARK/TRD that cannot be characterized as official metrics/tasks * Any future projects/tasks that does not involve official data The VIE assignment in a nutshell This VIE in New-York is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 18 months. The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France's eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space.
