Primary Responsibilities:

  • Daily client interactions with leadership with a focus on the Practitioner Query program

  • Linear Financial & Clinical analysis

  • Building analytics models

  • SQL - writing code and extracting data

  • Report out / present analytics findings

  • Peer review on colleague analytics

  • Analysis prioritization

  • Research data opportunities, provide root causes, and to identify possible solutions

  • Strong communication to clients - concise, articulate, linear

  • Opportunity research and the creation of presentations

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance / economics / mathematics or related field

  • 5 years of Healthcare Analytics Experience or Financial experience in the Healthcare Industry

  • 5 years of experience using SQL, intermediate to advanced level skills (able to write code and to extract data from various sources)

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Knowledge of Tableau

  • Comfortable presenting to various audiences and levels of leadership

  • Working knowledge of relational databases / database structures

  • Ability to understand complex data, to distill findings into a concise summary, and to clearly articulate the main points

  • Familiar with the healthcare industry

  • Self-motivated and comfortable with strategy development and execution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience with Tableau and / or other data visualization tools

  • Experience analyzing healthcare claims data

  • Knowledge of Medicare Risk Adjustment business (HCCs, RAF, Dx codes)

  • Strategic thinker to find solutions to discover opportunities

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Ability to develop new relationships and to gain trust

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and concepts effectively

  • Persistent to find answers when initial results are not conclusive

  • Eager to learn

We are internal analytics partners who provide expertise to our finance, operations, accounting and market teams to identify coding gaps, assess opportunity, forecast, and analyze risk. As a healthcare economics consultant, you will help lead key efforts around risk score forecasting, revenue assessment, predictive suspecting, program evaluations, and strategic guidance related to Medicare Advantage Risk Adjustment. The role also requires the knowledge and ability to access data, construct and manipulate large datasets to support planned analyses, use SQL, SAS or similar tools, as well as the ability to visualize and present findings. The ideal candidate will also have working knowledge of best in class forecasting techniques and modeling. You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: * Support complex analytic projects leveraging data from multiple sources * Understand and apply highly technical specifications to healthcare datasets * Multitask, prioritize, adapt to change, work well under pressure in an entrepreneurial environment, meet deadlines, and manage a project from start to finish * Develop full understanding of CMS guidelines and specifications as it relates to Medicare Advantage and Risk Adjustment * Identify and implement appropriate analytic approaches and methodologies * Design, produce and support development of financial and operational dashboards and key performance indicator reports to meet customer requirements * Leverage and coordinate enterprise-wide capabilities to meet business-specific needs Required Qualifications: * Advanced Degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Health Administration, Mathematics or related field and 2 years of advanced analytics experience, or Bachelor's degree and 4 years of advanced analytics experience * Strong analytical expertise: data analysis, statistical analysis, data manipulation, data extraction and reporting required * Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with leaders across the organization and external customers * Intermediate proficiency with SQL, SAS, and/or other statistical programs Preferred Qualifications: * Proficiency with advanced financial forecasting techniques * Experience in supporting finance and accounting partners through an analytics focused role * Experience measuring impact and ROI of operational programs and services * Knowledge of CMS regulations and specifications in regards to Medicare Advantage risk adjustment * Experience working with healthcare data * Experience in predictive modeling, data manipulation, reporting, and analysis * Knowledge of healthcare administrative data (medical claims, enrollment, provider data) * Demonstrated capability in driving business result through modeling and segmentation implementation, analysis and refinement Careers with Optum.
