Responsible for ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory laws at assigned facilities.

  • Audit processes and facilities within area(s) of responsibility to ensure the Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) is in compliance and conforms not only to Freeport-McMoRan Corporate requirements, but with all applicable local, state, federal and business requirements

  • Manage MSHA/OSHA/State Mine Inspector visits, evaluate field activities, address potential violations with Inspectors, and ensure documentation of all potential violations are completed as required

  • Develop processes necessary to continuously improve the HSMS and ensure compliance and conformance with all legal, business and client requirements

  • May assist or train lower level Specialists

  • Analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports and regulatory documents to identify potential impacts to the site

  • Present information and respond to Health and Safety questions or concerns from employees, managers and the general public

  • Respond to employee Health and Safety inquiries, regulatory complaints and/or community groups

  • Conduct safety orientations, visit work sites and distribute literature to implement and promote Health and Safety policies and procedures

  • Evaluate safety training venues annually to ensure presentation materials are pertinent, meet regulatory requirements, and are presented in a professional manner

  • Oversee the development of new safety training programs as required

  • Handle special projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of Health & Safety experience, OR
  • Master's degree and two (2) years of Health & Safety experience



  • Working knowledge with OHSAS H&S Management Systems

  • Understanding MSHA/OSHA regulations and field application

  • Ability to work with diverse groups and cultures

  • Ability to work with contractors

  • Working around construction activities (i.e. impoundments, road construction, spillways, treatment systems, etc.)

  • Working around demolition activities

  • H&S field experience:

  • working around various types of heavy mobile equipment

  • working at heights and fall protection

  • Working around utilities

  • Confined space

  • Ability to travel 75-80% domestically and may include remote areas


  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see

  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workday

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws

After Bell Staff are directly responsible for maintaining the After Bell programs compliance with Leman Academy Norms and Scholar Expectations. As well as ensuring the health and safety of all scholars is being meet after school. Line of Authority/Reports to: Afterbell Staff shall be directly responsible to the Afterbell Coordinator, Afterbell Lead and Site Principals in providing services required for the administration of the school in order to assure the smooth, efficient operation of after school care in Afterbell. Works with: Vice Principal, Principal, Head of Schools, Faculty, Office Staff, Department Heads, Families and Scholars of Leman Academy of Excellence, and vendors who may provide services for our scholars. Job Goal: Afterbell Staff for Leman Academy serves in a pivotal role to provide care for all scholars enrolled in the Afterbell program within each site. Qualifications/Minimum Requirements: * Minimum High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); and 12 months related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience. * DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance. * First Aid/ CPR * Food Handlers Card. * Valid Drivers License * TB Test; TB test must be within a twelve month period of start date or a new test is required. * Attend eighteen hours of annual training. * Child Care experience preferred. * Working Knowledge of child care regulations and safety practices. * Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to positively impact school community with an ability to build strong relationships. * Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with scholars, parents, co-workers, vendors and build relationships. * Strong commitment to providing leadership in promoting health and safety, including a healthy environment. * Ability to operate office equipment as required on assignment; i.e. fax machine, copier, computer, etc. * Ability to lift boxes and packages of varying weights and move them to other locations. Duties and Areas of Responsibility: * Ensure all Afterbell operations are in compliance with State Licensing child care regulations. * Maintain a safe and healthy environment for scholars and staff. Comply with all applicable policies, rules and regulations, including but not limited to those relating to safety, health, child care. * Prep cafeteria/recess areas, as well as cleanup and maintain stock of any regularly needed materials. * Supervise and monitor inside and outside communal areas of the school building as schedule merits, to ensure the safety and welfare of scholars. * Follows all sanitation regulations and regularly maintains all work areas. * Maintain familiarity with and adherence to Leman Academy behavior Norms and Expectations for scholars. * Prep Afterbell areas, as well as cleanup and maintain stock of any regularly needed materials. * Create a structured Afterbell program by following regular schedules, lesson plans, outdoor activities and ensuring all schedules/plans adhere to Leman Academy Norms and Scholar expectations. * Assists scholars with homework, outside recess and scheduled activities. * Help implementation of promoting positive behavior and accomplishing homework goals during Afterbell. * Identifies disciplinary issues with scholars, administer warnings as needed and escalating disciplinary issues as needed to Administration and Principals. * Identifies and resolves discipline issues within the Afterbell program on a daily basis, escalating issues as needed to Afterbell Coordinator. * Develop and maintain effective client, vendor, family and community-based organizations relationships. * Ensures confidentiality and adherence to FERPA in all areas. * Regularly participate in any staff trainings, continued education or staff meetings. * Perform other duties as assigned.
