Position Description
Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Senior Hardware Design Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.
The Product Engineering Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware products. The individual selected for this position will be a design engineer with varied technical interests and demonstrated engineering skills. The individual must be a self-starter with experience working with inter-disciplinary teams to solve challenging technical problems. The engineer will work closely with electronics integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems.
The selected candidate will be expected to execute in a fast-paced, small team environment through all phases of the product life cycle from concept development and detailed design through manufacturing, qualification testing, and post-delivery support. The engineer will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and testing printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) including power supply, mixed-signal, FPGA, and microcontroller designs. Additional skills such as signal integrity analysis, power distribution network design, high-speed digital (10 GigE+) design, RF design, or basic VHDL proficiency are a plus.
With a product focus, the individual is also expected to actively partner with other engineers, project managers, technicians, and the customer to develop solutions that adhere to a diverse set of requirements. Additionally, the engineer will support resolution of technical issues that are discovered during the manufacture and test of deliverable products. This will include troubleshooting board-level issues, assessing failures for root cause, and identifying corrective actions.

Basic Qualifications
Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution
Candidate must have 10+ years experience in electronics design and test from architecture through implementation
Candidate must have advanced knowledge of digital/analog/mixed signal electronics, components, and interface/communication standards
Candidate must have expertise in digital PCB design and troubleshooting including embedded processor, microcontroller, or FPGA-based designs
Candidate must have proven experience in design, test, troubleshooting, and manufacture of complex multi-layer electronic circuit card assemblies
Candidate must have hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods
Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams
Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area
Other Qualifications
Preference shown to candidates who possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution with a 3.0 or higher GPA
Preference shown to candidates who possess a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university
Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge of:
Multiple high-speed serial communication standards and memory interfaces (e.g. GigE, 10 GigE, Aurora, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, JESD204B, PCIe, SATA)
Rigid-flex, microvia, blind via, and buried via printed circuit board design
Switched-mode power supply (SMPS) design
Mentor Graphics electrical engineering development tools
Security Requirements
Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
