As a Senior Hadoop Administrator, you will be responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining multiple Hadoop clusters in the growing Decisions Sciences and Business Transformation team at GEICO. As an experienced senior level Hadoop Administrator, you will be responsible for design and architecture of the Big Data Platform, work with development teams to optimize different Hadoop services and deploy and code in to multiple environment. This is an unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to work on the next generation decision support system for GEICO.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of IT experience including a minimum of 3 years supporting multi-tier applications on Linux systems is required

  • A minimum 3 years of experience in Hadoop echo system including MapReduce, HDFS, Hive, HBase, NO-SQL is required

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with Linux/Unix systems and scripting knowledge is required

  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting problems and working with other teams to determine the root cause is desired

  • Hands on experience with automation tools such as Puppet is a plus

  • Job requires to be part of 24x7 on-call rotation and production support is required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is required #LI-SB1

You will be tasked with ensuring data integrity, identifying and addressing process improvements in our financial operations, and developing solutions. You are eager to contribute and learn, ask lots of questions, and provide solutions before we even know there are issues. You will regularly interact with team members within and outside the accounting team, providing high levels of customer service. Duties and Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: * Manage the day-to-day administration of the company's equity and option plans globally. Includes booking, processing, reviewing subscriptions, redemptions, transfers, and all unitholder-related transactions in accordance with company procedures. * Coordinate with all departments in the process, including Human Resources, Legal, and Accounting & Finance. * Accurately collect and enter data into our equity administration software in a timely manner. * Coordinate the approval of new equity and option grants, ensuring proper approvals and controls are in place. * Calculate fair value assumptions for various types of equity compensation. * Reconcile master equity records to firm's investment portfolio accounting system. * Assist with year-end financial statement audits and other regulatory examination requests. * Liaise with in-house tax and payroll teams in order to communicate compensation impact to colleagues both in and outside of the United States. * Develop and provide firm-wide education and training sessions on equity compensation. * Maintain inbox for any questions related to the firm's equity plans. * Responsible for execution and distribution of all equity-related documents. * Respond to requests for information from shareholders and potential investors. * Create formal equity-related procedures, policies, and controls. * Provide exceptional customer service. * Other ad hoc items, as necessary. * Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Technical Job Requirements * One to three years of accounting or financial industry related experience. * Bachelor's degree required in General Business, Accounting, Finance or related course of study. * Strong level of attention to detail and proven ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities and a sense of urgency is required. * High level of initiative and sound judgment. * Maintains colleague and shareholder confidence by keeping equity compensation information confidential. * Manage workflow through multiple systems and applications to meet evolving business demands. * Excellent computer skills, particularly in navigating detailed system-generated source reports, downloading and manipulating data, and Excel. * Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources to solve problems. * Excellent client service orientation and possess client-first mentality; demonstrated flexibility and strong follow-up skills. * Ability to prioritize multiple work streams, appropriately balance project and execution activities, and perform effectively under pressure. Preferred Qualifications * 2+ years of experience with stock administration. * CPA License and/or other relevant professional certification. * Advanced degree in accounting, Finance or related course of study. * Experience in stock compensation accounting guidance, including practical application preferred but not required. * Experience with Global Shares and/or E*Trade platform. * Knowledge of US SOX and GAAP accounting.
