This facility operates five days a week with potential for overtime and produces raw and fully cooked meat products.

SUMMARY:

Serve as an SQF practitioner, and as the HACCP program coordinator in the facility. Develop and maintain compliance with plant programs such as CCP, SSOP, process control, and CN. Supervise the staff of FSQA Technicians and lab personnel, up to 5 employees. Serve as a technical resource on cross-functional plant teams. Monitor product testing and process improvement projects. Perform daily activities that will allow the facility to meet the goals of the Company. Investigate and respond to customer complaints and assist in product traceability exercises. Maintain technical competency in Company IT systems and FSQA related IT systems. Investigate and resolve product holds and operational challenges to yields and efficiency. Innovate to improve the effectiveness of the quality system to better serve the business.

TASKS:

  • Ensure food safety and personal safety.

  • Monitor facility conditions, adherence to product specifications, statistical process controls and product traceability systems.

  • Develop and train FSQA Technicians to include monitoring and documentation of the Food Safety systems.

  • Lead Food Safety incident investigations to include root cause analyses, implementation of corrective actions, and the development of preventative actions.

  • Lead investigations and analyses of CCP deviations, monitoring trends and implementation of corrective actions and effective preventative measures.

  • Assure compliance with product Net Weight programs and AMS CN programs.

  • Participate in the development of and monitoring of finished product quality attributes as determined by customer specifications and manufacturing instructions.

  • Provide cook temperature trend analyses as related to oven calibration results.

  • Investigate and resolve product holds.

  • Verify sanitation pre-operational inspections and advise the sanitation contractor in the resolution of deficiencies.

  • Monitor FSQA, Operations, and Maintenance related procedures and related documentation results. Create, update, and implement procedures, as necessary.

  • Lead weekly Food Safety and Sanitation Performance meetings to include documentation of meeting minutes, tasks, and results.

  • Assist the FSQA manager and supervisors when needed.

  • Lead through all customer and Company FSQA and GFSI related audits.

  • Develop a close working relationship with USDA personnel to maintain compliance with federal regulations related to Food Safety, sanitation performance standards and product labeling.

  • Work closely with Production, Customer Relations, Sales and Warehousing to achieve company goals.

  • Maintain awareness of regulatory changes and advances in the state of the industry.

  • Champion improvement projects and complete special assignments as directed.

  • Monitor the work hours of direct reports to maintain department efficiency.

  • Other responsibilities to include: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work activities; conducting performance appraisals.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Self-motivated and work well without close supervision. Be capable of making sound judgments and decisions frequently. Be able to direct personnel and discipline fairly, even-handily, and consistently. Be able to communicate effectively to all levels of management. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • 3-5 years in a Food Safety or Quality role with progressing responsibilities

  • Resume Required with submitted application.

  • Must be ok with not only supporting our Enterprise Plant but also our Willow Philly Enid Plant (Both Plants are down the road/close to each other)

  • This role is 1st Shift, Typically 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM, some night shifts and some third shifts, but very few. Occasional pre-op at 3 am working until about 1 PM, must be flexible.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree in food or a related science preferred

  • SQF certification preferred

  • HACCP Certification preferred

  • USDA and RTE meat processing knowledge strongly preferred

  • Previous QA/Production experience, micro experience, RTE (Ready to Eat) experience, auditing experience
