Department/Division Purpose:

The Administration and Finance Department ensures PCC operates within Federal and State laws and policies, to ensure the fiscal competency of public funds, to achieve efficient delivery of administrative services, and to maintain respectability of public investments in infrastructure and programs.

Job Summary Statement:

The Senior Grant Accountant works with financial, grant and academic leaders to ensure development, compliance, auditing, accounting, and analysis of multiple grants.

In accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes 24-50-135, this position has been exempted from the State Personnel System.

Job Duties

Essential Functions

  • Maintain a system of financial accounting, reporting, and record keeping in accordance to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

  • Responsible for the monitoring of grant activity

  • Works closely with Program Directors (Grant org set-up, periodic invoicing, helps with monthly, quarterly or yearly reporting, budget revisions and grant close out)

  • Responsible for recording monthly and yearly accruals for grant draws or invoices.

  • Trains new Program Directors on accessing their grant reports (Expenses, budgets, etc)

  • Responsible for expense review and approval processes related to funding drawdowns from federal agencies.

  • Maintains Grant spreadsheet for current and pending federal, state, local, foundation, and private grants.

  • Communicate with faculty, staff, and outside contacts to provide financial and accounting information and support as needed.

  • Maintain knowledge of internal control requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned, including project and committee work.

  • Cross train on other Fiscal Office functions.

  • Flexibility to take on new tasks as Fiscal Office needs change.

  • Maintains confidentiality of student and employee information as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in accounting.

Experience:

  • Experience with grant accounting and grant administration.

  • Experience in higher education.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of relevant Federal and Colorado grant regulations and processes.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Able to lift 15 pounds.

  • Able to read and communicate in English.

  • Mobility around campus.
