What's the opportunity?

Our Charlotte Global Forwarding office is seeking a Senior Global Forwarding Agent for their Ocean Export department. The Senior Global Forwarding Agent role is for an organized individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. This individual provides the utmost level of performance while identifying opportunities to improve the customer experience. The Senior Global Forwarding Agent combines knowledge of customer needs and industry best-practices to develop rates and quotes, and act as a consultant to customers with complex needs. Minimum of five years' experience in the Ocean Export industry

What will you be doing?

  • Recommend, coordinate, and implement cargo bookings for customers with complex shipment needs

  • Help drive growth through coordinated efforts with the sales team and the general manager

  • Troubleshoot issues from customers and other stakeholders as they relate to billing and shipment problems

  • Generate, file, and maintain up-to date and accurate customer records, reports, shipment documentation, etc.

  • Conduct shipment-level analysis to enable customers with complex needs to maximize company technology tools

  • Prepare and audit advanced and/or customized reports

  • Demonstrate solid decision-making skills and ability to prioritize ever-changing daily tasks

  • Possess knowledge of C.H. Robinson's service offerings, logistical concepts and supply chain terminology

  • Foster and develop relationships with key customer contacts, overseas agents, and carriers

  • Mentor new employees: help them understand the processes involved in international shipping from purchase order to delivery of cargo

  • Understand each assigned customer's business model and competitive advantages

  • Participate in business reviews as requested by Sales Executives and Account Managers

  • Assist in the creation of SOPs and KPIs

  • Recommend product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and promote account growth

  • Be an example for others regarding adherence to all applicable legal, customer, and company requirements

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum of five years' experience in the Ocean Export industry

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, High school diploma or GED required

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven office environment

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills and phone etiquette

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and using the Internet
