STV has an immediate opening in our New York City office for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with underground structures/tunneling experience for our Transportation and Infrastructure Division.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supervising junior engineers with 0-5 years of experience.
Performing and supervising of design of support of excavation (SOE) systems.
Preparing drawings and developing engineering reports.
Developing and implementing geotechnical subsurface exploration plan.
Preparing geotechnical data reports, geotechnical interpretive reports, geotechnical baseline reports, etc.
Participating in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and schedule performance.
Interpreting ground conditions and understand their impact on design and construction.
Assisting in preparation of proposals
Project work will include heavy civil underground structures such as cut-and cover and mined tunnels, caverns, shafts, underground structures such substations and treatment facilities throughout the United States and Canada.
Minimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering with emphasis on underground structures.
Professional Engineer (PE).
Proven record of the use of numerical modeling using software such as PLAXIS, FLAC, or similar.
Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related disciplines.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Experience in soil logging and subsurface investigations is preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Previous experience in supervising junior staff is preferred.
