Purpose

  • Connect your geology background with our well-established mining company; where you'll find a good balance of field and technical work.

  • You'll have opportunities to instruct, encourage, and develop technical and support staff and will utilize your adaptable work style by working individually, within a group, and with other departments like Drill Services, Operations, Engineering, & Exploration.

  • This role will be responsible for activities essential to geology, exploration, production, near-mine or in-mine programs and support of a project or district.

Essential Duties

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by actively engaging staff and participating in the Safety Journey programs.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the environment and follow Newmont Mining Corp. Social Responsibility guidelines.

  • May include management of direct reports.

  • Provide mentoring and development of less experienced geologists and ensure quality of work.

  • Design and execute project work with minimal supervision.

  • Duties may include budget estimation and management, drill planning, core and RC chip logging, QA/QC, 3D modeling, reports, and presentations

  • Accountable for the quality of all geologic data.

  • Be responsible for the evaluation of exploration development, or acquisition opportunities in a significant area of exploration activity on a major project or in a mine operation.

  • Can recognize opportunities in procedures and processes to improve the business.

  • Good inter-personal and communication skills, motivated, and self-reliant.

  • Effectively work across multi-functional lines.

Training & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geology (MS preferred), or Geological Engineering with demonstrated knowledge of geological principles.

  • 5 to 10 years of industry experience in a mining or exploration environment.

  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software, such as Vulcan and Leapfrog, is a plus.

  • Proficient in standard computer programs (Word, Excel, etc).

Working Conditions

  • This position is located at our Cripple Creek & Victor mine site.

  • Monday through Thursday work schedule.

C2BMC is the integrating element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).
