Now that DVL is an authorized dealer for Generac, we are looking to add a Senior Generator Service Technician in our Englewood location who will be responsible for the startup, maintenance, repair and modification of electric generating equipment and related equipment. Work involves performing a variety of skilled tasks in maintaining, repairing and modifying electric generating equipment, that include gaseous fuel driven electric generators and related equipment, in various types of facilities, as well as assisting technicians on proper procedures.
WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
Has superior operational understanding to make modifications to generator systems, including installation of pre-heaters; battery chargers; fuel systems and other related parts.
Answers technical questions from all Generator Service Technicians. Presents self as a senior representative of the company.
Proficiently startup and program gaseous fuel driven generators and connect automatic transfer switches and will assist technicians on proper procedures.
Operating and performing load banks on various type of equipment including but not limited to generator systems and uninterruptable power supplies.
Expertly makes wiring modifications to control circuits and electrical apparatus specific to the standby system.
Skillfully investigate, diagnose, troubleshoot and repair standby and transfer switch system problems, and assisting other technicians on proper procedures.
Perform preventive maintenance including checking for leaks, inspecting old or worn parts, taking oil samples; ordering and installing replacement parts; adjusts, calibrates and inspects the operation of auto transfer switch equipment.
Accurately prepares documentation of repairs, maintenance issues, parts ordered, and parts used as well as documents modifications to systems, and shares this information with service coordinators.
Weekly interaction with Director of Power Systems and Engineering
Instrumental in assisting DVL sales groups and management to ensure customer satisfaction.
Transport equipment, tools and fluids to and from work sites; operates and maintains equipment, tools and safety devices which are designed to lift, move, transport, repair, inspect, measure or protect.
Uses comprehensive knowledge of the methods, hazards, and safety precautions related to gaseous fired engines and electric generators.
Works in a safe manner and leads by example. Follows industry standard safety practices including knowledge of SDS, tool safety, equipment safety and ladder safety guidelines.
Help manage and oversee DVL Generator Service Fleet and tools.
Properly operates and maintains company vehicle.
Satisfactory complete training classes as required.
COMPETENCIES YOU SHOULD HAVE
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY
Ten years experience in startup, repair, operation, and maintenance of various types of diesel, gasoline, natural gas, and propane fueled generator sets. Experience with Generac preferred.
Electrical Certification from a college or trade school
Experience with reading and understanding electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, service manuals, panels and meters.
Experience with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, and customers.
Ability to mentor and coach a team
OSHA 10 preferred, some OSHA training required
Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel
Valid drivers license
Excellent customer service skills
Available to perform scheduled on-call and overtime duties in surrounding area
