Organizational Overview

Role Overview

Senior Fund Accountants work to support the Fund Accounting job function under limited supervision, reviewing and preparing a variety of fund reports for clients including: cash forecasts, Net Assets Values (NAVs), yields, distributions, reconciliation, and other fund accounting output.

As a senior member of the team you will update and review trading, general ledger activity and pricing of complex funds and assist in reviewing complex investments and/or funds which may include international, fixed income, or derivatives securities. Senior Fund Accountants will eventually assist with training new and less experienced associates.


  • Calculation of NAV:

  • Complete Net Asset Value calculation ensuring accuracy and timeliness on assigned funds

  • Update and review daily trading, income, general ledger activity, and pricing of funds

  • Review and prepare a variety of fund reports for clients including cash forecasts, yields, distributions, reconciliation and other fund accounting output

  • Ensure timelines are adhered to

  • Complete fund accountant daily checklist in accordance with procedures

  • Reconciliation:

  • Fund Accountants prepare and reconcile trial balances for assigned funds and prepare reconciliation of fund records to custodians and transfer agents.

  • Compare and confirm account balances and research any discrepancies

  • Other:

  • Maybe required to review fund evaluation components

  • Involvement in departmental ad-hoc projects

  • Involvement in the training and development of other team members as necessary

  • Communication:

  • Resolve review points noted by senior fund accountants and team supervisor and ensure they are kept informed of individual progress

  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal clients and colleagues

  • Organization:

  • Ensure proper housekeeping duties with regards to fund information, filing, archiving, etc


  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of work-related experience or 4 years equivalent work-related experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred

  • Experience with mutual fund accounting software a plus

  • 1+ year of accounting experience, mutual fund accounting experience preferred

  • Experience with mutual fund accounting software

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills

  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a team environment

  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office especially Excel

  • Ability to work with tight deadlines

  • Strong numerical skills

  • Quick thinking, reflection & execution

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, plant funds and capital asset accounting; monitoring and coordinating fixed assets inventory and ensuring controls over fixed assets are operating effectively; overseeing cash accounts of the college; supporting the internal control structure; monitoring cash activity daily and reconciling bank statements; and reviewing and interpreting Federal regulations, OMB Circulars, State of Colorado Fiscal Rules, Colorado Community College System regulations, grant agreements and other applicable regulations and guidelines. This position is also responsible for the work product of Staff Accountants, as related to the Senior Accountant's primary responsibilities. Every ACC faculty and staff member is expected to participate in the assessment process of the College, utilizing the results of assessment for continuous institutional improvement. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or closely related field from an accredited institution. * Three (3) or more years of general ledger accounting experience. * Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. * Strong communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications: * Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). * Demonstrated experience with Banner.
