Summary

We are looking for a very qualified and skilled frontend developer to join our team in NYC or you can work remotely anywhere in the US or Denmark. You will be responsible for building 'client-side' functionality of our web applications based on React. We expect you to be a very frontend tech-savvy professional, who is curious about new digital technologies and aspires to combine usability with performance. The role comes with a lot of flexibility in terms of technologies that you will be using daily, and you will have a lot of say in terms of how those technologies should be used.

You will be working with a team of very skilled professionals that has a high drive and strives for better and faster, which we also expect from you. We launched and rebranded Sermo's physician community platform, and you will be assisting in maintaining the existing functionality as well as developing new features. We also have a lot of internal applications that are to be rewritten to take full utilization of our new platform. Ultimately, you should be able to assist and collaborate in creating a functional and attractive digital environment for our company, ensuring great user experience, as there are many new planned features waiting to be developed.

Senior Frontend Engineer Tasks:

  • Help improve and maintain our React frontend framework that serve as the base for our products and applications

  • Optimize code and applications for maximum speed, security, and reusability

  • Develop and maintain applications across browsers and devices, both responsive and/or adaptive

  • Collaborate with UX, back-end developers and web designers to improve usability

  • Help and be part of analyzing feedback from users and customers to allow us to continuously improve our offerings

  • Assist in creating functional requirements documentation and guides

  • Assist in testing functionality across devices

  • Create mockups and prototypes to help visualize ideas for the rest of the organization

  • Ensure we keep a high-quality graphic standards and brand consistency throughout our applications

  • Participate in meetings (internal as well as external) and standups

  • Be part of the decision process in terms of technologies and processes

  • Work with our highly skilled and dedicated frontend- and backend developers to integrate the frontend with the existing code base

  • Proactively analyze website performance and implement solutions for improvement

  • Participate in pager duty and call rotation to ensure system stability

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years of developing complex web applications with high focus on frontend development

  • You must be able to provide examples of a framework that you have been part of building in the past

  • Solid work experience using component-based development on the client side

  • 7+ years of experience developing single page applications

  • 3+ years of current experience developing in React.js and Redux. Prior to that some experience in Angular or Backbone or Knockout or Ember

  • Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles

  • You must have an in-depth understanding of the web development process (requirements, design, development, deployment)

  • Have a good understanding of database concepts

  • Be a self-starter who is excited to relentlessly solve many technical challenges

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage own time and work well both independently and as part of a team

Bonus Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with AWS infrastructure

  • Experience with React

  • Experience with Asp.Net (Core), Solr, and/or SQL

  • Understanding and experience with the medical industry

  • Understanding and experience with WCAG and/or GDPR compliance

  • An ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience developing on/for social media platforms
