Senior Front-End Developer (React)

Modeshift is seeking a Senior Frontend Developer with strong interest and potentials in building highly reliable and scalable connected systems.

Modeshift is a product development company building software for public transportation. Our goal is to improve the life of the people by providing better transportation services. Our product covers the full spectrum of transportation management needs covering passengers’ mobile apps, vehicle schedules, and monitoring, fare management, payment processing, and analytics. This is tightly integrated with various devices that we use – handhelds, validators, vehicle computers, etc. Our system is used in multiple cities US, Romania, and Bulgaria.

Process

We’re UX driven, crazy about automation, with full end to end continuous delivery process and heavily relying on peer code reviews. We keep the number of meetings at a minimum.

Responsibilities

Own and deliver complete features, including architecture, implementation, testability, and deployment. We’re looking for a person to own the UI infrastructure, architecture and componentization.

For UI we use React and for the different devices part of our system we rely on React Native, .NET Core, Kotlin, or Java. Our backend runs on Azure using .NET Core and Service Fabric.

We base our work on high-definition wireframes and we use tools like Axure and Sketch to define the UI. You’ll be working with experienced UX designer and a team of full-stack developers.

Qualifications

Professional experience in frontend, web, or mobile software developing with HTML, CSS, JavaScript Framework, and general Web 2.0 techniques

Working experience with JS frameworks, e.g. React/Angular/Vue/etc.

Experience with CSS pre-processing frameworks (Sass, Less, etc.)

Good understanding of asynchronous request handling (AJAX)

Experience with responsive web design and the ability to deliver outstanding functionality across devices and platforms.

Experience with RESTful APIs

Experience with common frontend development tools such as Babel, Webpack, npm, etc.

Experience with code versioning tools and CI/CD process

Preferred Qualifications

Experience building large-scale web applications

Experience with unit testing libraries such as Mocha, Jest, Chai, Enzyme is a huge plus

Coding practices including peer code reviews, testing, and a preference for agile development.

Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C# or Python.
