We are seeking an experienced and diligent Senior Software Validation Engineer to join our dynamic team at Zebra Technologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing innovative testing strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality products. The role involves developing and maintaining test plans, automating test scenarios, and evaluating the materials and techniques used in the production of Zebra's devices and/or solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and apply new test scenarios in exploratory or regression testing.

  • Automate test scenarios using scripting or dedicated tools.

  • Verify bug reports provided by customers; work with customers to specify reproduction steps.

  • Perform integration testing, including cross-platform test setups or interoperability with dedicated hardware.

  • Document defects with clearly described test setups and reproduction steps.

  • Analyze usability and visual consistency of graphical user interfaces.

  • Compare features against competition and prepare relevant performance benchmarks.

  • Create test plans and maintain test infrastructure.

  • Supervise processes and configure relevant tools for iteration planning, continuous integration, risk management, release criteria, and deployment.

  • Work on the architecture with developers to facilitate effective test strategies.

  • Evaluate the materials, properties, and techniques used in the production of Zebra’s devices or solutions.

  • Use statistical methods to design tests and verification test plans.

  • Actively review and apply the Market Requirements Document and Engineering Specifications to quantify metrics and acceptance thresholds.

  • Lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.

  • Conduct the bug review meetings with other stake holders and provide weekly updates to the core team.

  • Communicate proactively with the project team and other stakeholders about progress against test results.

  • Actively participate in program Risk Assessment and mitigation activities.

  • Provide product qualification or reliability test leadership over the product life-cycle.

  • May mentor or oversee the work of level 1, 2, or Technician level team members.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Computer Science/ Software Engineering or equivalent STEM technologies) with 5 + years of experience in firmware/ software testing and quality assurance.

  • Expertise in QA methodologies, tools and processes.

  • Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.

  • Strong experience with both white box and black box testing.

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge in Python Scripting or similar scripting language

  • Solid knowledge SQL Scripting/databases

  • Solid knowledge in .NET core or modern cloud base applications.

  • Experience in leading the test project is plus

  • Experience with performance and/or security testing is plus.

  • Experience in Web/test automation tools like Java/Selenium/TestNG is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Wireless and Network principles including Network Security protocols, 802.11, WLAN, VLAN, LAN, VPN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DHCP servers, Aruba and Cisco Access Points is a plus.

  • Certifications - CCNP, CCNA, CompTIA or similar certification is plus.

  • National Instruments LabVIEW certification is a plus.

Salary: USD 92700.00 - USD 139100.00 Yearly

Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.

Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
