This position will play a key role in all aspects of the TCF's external reporting process, including the preparation of filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Responsibilities also include conducting accounting and peer research as well as analysis of financial data.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.
2+ years of related work experience is required. Applicants with 1 year of related work experience and a professional certification (CPA, CFM, CMA) or an advanced degree will be considered.
Previous experience in public accounting, regulatory reporting and/or the Banking or financial services industry is preferred.
Strong end-user computing skills, including Microsoft Excel.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving and technical skills.
Detail orientated and exhibits strong organizational skills.

Adaptive learner who is able to grasp and apply new concepts in a timely manner.

Leadership and project management experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate and prepare SEC quarterly and annual reports, including financial statements, footnotes, Management's Discussions and Analysis, earnings releases, earnings presentations and investor presentations.
Assist in coordinating eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) for the Form 10-Q and 10-K.
Responsible for maintenance of supporting documentation related to SEC reporting, including various disclosure checklists and quarterly S-X testing.
Identify and implement improvements in process or internal procedures to more effectively compile and analyze data for SEC reporting purposes.
Work with TCF Accounting Standards department to implement newly released accounting guidance and establish internal processes to accurately compile information for disclosures.
Research new and existing U.S. GAAP and SEC guidance, including peer research, to ensure proper application of accounting rules and disclosure requirements. Document and present results to management and implement action plan when applicable.
Responsible for External Reporting internal control compliance, spreadsheet control testing and maintenance of policies and procedures.
Work with management to identify, propose and develop enhanced reporting functionality. Incorporate enhancements of reporting techniques into existing processes and identify alternatives for improvement.
