As a Barclays Senior Financial Controller, you will be part of the Barclays Europe Financial Control Leadership team, which is accountable for all aspects of financial and statistical regulatory reporting to internal and external stakeholders. The team act as trusted finance partners, helping the various Barclays operating segments, in particular the International Corporate Bank and Investment Bank activities. In your you will act as leader within the Finance function in building out its strategic financial reporting capability in France.

We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, 'anchor', days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). What will you be doing?

  • Providing French GAAP advice and reporting requirements definition for France-based business activities, illustrating clear divergences from IFRS reporting

  • Guiding reporting change for entity financial statement reporting requirements under French/English language and IFRS/French GAAP

  • Implementing and advising on requirement definitions for France-based business activities requiring disclosure under suite of French regulatory reports (e.g. RUBA, AnaCredit, etc)

  • Assisting with system change work required to meet Statutory and Regulatory reporting requirements under French GAAP

  • Implementing assistance for adjustments to the France-based Finance operating model, embedding Barclays Group processes, controls and governance as part of change programme

  • Developing of key controls necessary to help with key financial reporting requirements in a France-based reporting environment

  • Working with colleagues across the European bank and global franchise to support change

  • Working with teams in Treasury, Tax, Front Office, Risk, Operations and Barclays India-based Shared Service Centre

What we're looking for:

  • Extensive experience of French GAAP and IFRS accounting with a professional accountancy qualification from a recognised body (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, CA, DSCG, DEC)

  • Extensive experience of France Regulatory Reporting (e.g. Statistical, Anacredit) gained within a credit institution with Corporate and Investment Banking activities

  • Excellent written and oral business communication skills with fluency in both French and English

  • Extensive leadership experience gained through a variety of channels including projects, direct and matrix management

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Controls focussed, with high attention to detail and an analytical mind-set

  • Experience of working with French financial regulators and responding to their queries

  • Developing and enhancing financial reporting frameworks

  • Working in a fast-changing environment, meet deadlines and to work flexibly in the context of a small team

  • Working within a Group reporting and matrix-based framework
