This role will assist the Financial Controller with all aspects of financial reporting, quarter end and year end GAAP close process, as well as assist in quarterly and annual strategic planning processes.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

Key Accountabilities:

  • Completion of quarterly analytical and variance commentary to senior management

  • Assistance with quarterly analysis to provide value added information to underwriters

  • Review of monthly and quarterly General Ledger bookings

  • Review of reconciliations and some preparation of more complex reconciliations

  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual Statutory schedules

  • Liaise with internal and external auditors and assist with year-end and quarterly audits.

  • Assistance/coordination of the technical and operational annual budget, including quarterly reforecast as necessary

  • Assist with the development of new reports and analysis for improved internal reporting

  • Other ad hoc duties and projects as required

Working relationships:

  • North America Reinsurance Underwriters - to provide value added analysis as well as understanding variance rationale

  • Internal auditors quarterly testing and walk through

  • External auditors assist with annual audit and ad hoc requests

  • Corporate Finance team quarterly deliverables and ad hoc requests

  • Actuarial Team quarterly reporting and analysis of reserves

You will report to the Senior Manager, Strategic Business Finance & Planning.

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Accounting/Finance) from four-year college or university

  • Minimum of 5-7 years reinsurance accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with PeopleSoft General Ledger/Hyperion Financial Management would be a distinct advantage

  • Must demonstrate sound knowledge of US GAAP as it relates to the reinsurance industry.

  • Must have strong computer and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of products

  • Good team player with strong communication skills

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to any stakeholder

  • Problem solving skills

  • Takes initiative and demonstrates accountability

  • Acts with integrity and in the best interest of others

  • Flexibility

  • Strong aptitude in organization and planning

We are currently seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst to be located in Stamford, CT and report to the Senior Manager, Finance. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Planning/Forecasting processes - participate in bottom up field & external forecast compilation; eventually lead related processes with Field Finance teams.     * Create process to seamlessly link financial models into financial systems (Essbase, Magnitude, One Source) along with documenting via Standard Operating Procedures. * Own compilation of Executive Team Monthly Business Review while providing analytical insight on trends, risk and opportunities to facilitate achievement of targets and forecasts. * Assist with development of key presentations for Strategic Plan, Operational Plan, and other Ad Hoc. * Work closely with Decision Support and Control in order to provide a high quality data / timely framework, as well as the reliable measurement of selected key KPIs.     * Ensure quality financial information is used by the business for decision making and that potential risks and opportunities are actioned.  Promote use of external and internal information for benchmarking.     * Promote the culture of Return on Invested Capital / ATR on CAPEX related topics (whenever relevant) including Forecasting of ROIC & Cash Flow. * Work closely Global Business Units to manage End to End Financials (S. Pellegrino, Perrier, Acqua Panna). * Assist in collaborating with Field Sales Finance, Brand Teams, Customer & Channel Sales Development, and Business Unit teams, ensuring strategic initiatives are flawlessly executed into Integrated Commercial Planning Process (ICP). * Assist in development of NWNA's 3 year strategic plan (Market Business Strategy).
