The Senior Financial Analyst serves as a financial advisor to business unit leader(s) which includes, but not limited to, preparing, reviewing and analyzing financial reports; preparing budgets, forecasts and projections; supporting pricing for new business proposals for new/existing customers; analyzing costs in total and by client to understand and optimize business structure; conducting variance and profitability analysis and providing explanation to business unit leader(s); and ensuring all reports are accurate and completed within specified timelines.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partners with business unit leader(s) and/or senior management to provide financial guidance and support in interpreting and analyzing financial and business issues which includes driving operating performance, delivering on business initiatives, growth and profitability while ensuring compliance to accounting principles and corporate governance

  • Maintaining current cost data by client and FTE to support ongoing pricing.

  • Proposes and influences alternate financial and business solutions which link to the business strategies to the operational units and annual operating/performance plans to assigned business unit leader(s).

  • Prepares monthly reporting of key financial information for assigned business unit(s) in a timely manner.

  • Performs variance analysis proactively throughout the month, and after results are final, informs senior leadership of key drivers

  • Prepares ad-hoc reports and analysis, when requested.

  • Supports Business Case development in support of Optimization, growth and new strategic initiatives.

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial closure as well as supporting narrative to financial statements.

  • Prepares and distributes financial reporting packages to assigned business unit leader(s) and senior management. Ensures compliance with company guidelines and financial reporting requirements.

  • Works with business unit leader to analyze and determine variance and business trends including profitability by customer /service offering, pricing validation and utilization. Proposes solutions, potential savings or actions to mitigate business trends.

  • Participate and lead project and other initiatives.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management. Adheres to established policies and procedures

  • Invests time in understanding how the business operates

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Accounting/Finance.

  • Strong understanding and experience performing financial, forecasting, budgeting, and operational analysis.

  • Experience in performing financial modeling.

  • Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of the business environment.

  • Ability to clearly understand the business objectives and link the financial results/data to operational performance drivers.

  • Ability to think strategically, creatively and systematically along with strong critical thinking, and problem solving.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and analyze large amounts of data at a macro and micro level and report information.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills; must be comfortable to communicate with all levels of management.

  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, work on various deliverables simultaneously and prioritize.

  • Ability to work independently, but also as a part of a team.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Advanced knowledge in MS Excel.

  • Working knowledge of financial systems (e.g. Hyperion or other similar systems).

  • Recognized accounting designation preferred.

Job Details GENERAL SUMMARY: This position exists primarily for the purpose of developing internal store manager bench from the assistant store manager population, although external candidates will also be in the program. It is a position to be used to give store manager candidates more experience prior to becoming a store manager, and is to be held for a specified period. DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Assist in recruiting and staffing activities. * Assist with store merchandising by facilitating and/or participating in staging, stocking and storage of merchandise; ensuring that merchandise is presented according to established practices and store manager direction; and properly utilizing merchandise fixtures, signing and pricing of merchandise. * Assist in all aspects of inventory management (including proper execution of damages, markdowns, register scanning, paperwork and facility controls); prepare and conduct inventories. * Follow prescribed ordering practices to ensure the meeting or exceeding of in-stock targets. * Provide superior customer service leadership. * Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies as outlined in the employee handbook, SOP manual and company communications. * Participate in store opening and closing activities. * Ensure the safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank. * Assist in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through strict cashier accountability, key control and adherence to company security practices and cash control procedures. * Assist in the maintenance of clean, well-stocked stores; provide a safe environment for customers and employees. * Manage store in store manager's absence. * Review operating statements to identify business trends (including sales, labor, profitability, and inventory turn), expense control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors. * Complete all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS: * Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals. * Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages. * Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls. * Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions, including those necessary to generate reports. * Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices. * Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices (deposits, store keys, SAFE and STARS programs, etc.) * Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes. * Effective oral and written communication skills. * Effective interpersonal skills. * Effective organization skills with attention to detail. * Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists.
