Position Summary:
Gordon Food Service is hiring a Senior Financial Analyst
Essential Functions:
Facilitates the North American Specialty Company costing model
Prepares weekly reporting to summarize current and projected company financial position to include but is not limited to: gross margin analysis, and expense analysis.
Partner with the cost accounting team to review product costing and maintain production cost variance oversight
Reviews weekly pricing for accuracy.
Ensures sales, margin, product cost, and freight & storage costs are accurate.
Possess familiarity with product cost management and standard costing derivation and variance analysis.
Works with business to develop the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
Monitors internal control and risk assurance activities and ensures compliance with basic accounting principles and
company procedures.
Identifies trends and makes recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies.
Analyzes data and develops reporting for management use as appropriate.
Adheres to the mission and cornerstone values and applicable practices of the organization.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other
literature.
Ability to manage time effectively and compile information in a timely fashion.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidate must have:
Must have knowledge of general ledger accounting, cost accounting and analysis, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and internal control analysis and implementation. Experience manipulating large amounts of data.
Knowledge of general accounting cycle, with ability to journalize and reconcile activity that flows through the trial balance. Ability to recognize inaccurate coding, and the ability to understand AP, AR, Payroll, inventory processes. Has great ability to problem solve with accuracy and thoroughness.
Mathematical - arithmetic, measures, statistics, money
Knowledge of SAP, Blackline, and Anaplan applications.
Self Management - self direction, distraction, repetition, prioritization, fluctuations in workload, ambiguity, and accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments, maintains confidentiality.
Reacts well under pressure and approaches others in a tactful manner, possesses an entrepreneurial attitude, strategic visioning capabilities, strong decision making skills and enjoys working in a cross-functional team environment.
Must have a strong knowledge base of Microsoft Office products. Must be willing to take on additional tasks and duties when necessary.
Experience:
Bachelor degree required Accounting, Finance, Business Admin, or a related field
At least 3 years previous accounting or financial analysis experience with an understanding of cost accounting, internal controls and a level of understanding of information technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
