Role Value Proposition:
The Senior Financial Analyst role is a member of the Segment Reporting & Analysis Team which is part of the Expense Center of Excellence. The team focuses on expense analysis by US Segment (Group Benefits, Retirement Income Solutions and MetLife Holdings) to support the CFO and Controller areas with necessary expense deliverables including the QFS and MD&A. We strive to fully explain and analyze direct, allocated and variable expenses by providing robust reporting packages to our internal customers and management.
Review monthly expense results for segments and perform research on variances for area of responsibility.
Performs analysis, prepares reports, and conducts research and special projects as required.
Prepare reports accurately, on time and in compliance with Company requirements.
Support external reporting (QFS, GAAP, STAT) requirements.
Ensure expense categorization and amounts are accurate and complete for financial reporting.
Responsible for tracking close processes and monthly calendar deliverables.
Identify, Implement or strengthen internal controls in existing/new processes.
Maintain auditable supporting documentation for year end, internal/external audits and SOX compliance.
5+ years total financial analysis in a public or private company environment.
Demonstrated strong analytical, interpersonal, communications, prioritization & time management skills.
Strong proficiency with computer systems, PCs and financial software applications (ie spreadsheets, financial modeling software).
Strong knowledge of accounting concepts, principles and practices.
Ability to present and communicate financial data concisely and clearly with conclusions and recommendations in a manner that both financial & non-financial audiences can understand.
BA/BS degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting, OR equivalent experience completion of, or working towards CPA or MBA preferred.
Insurance industry, financial reporting/analysis experience a plus.
Knowledge of project management techniques.
