Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst for its Work Furniture Business Unit (WFBU) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This dynamic position reports to and supports the Work Furniture VP Finance and interacts with all levels of management at the various branches (United States, Canada, Mexico, Italy, Poland, China) and at corporate headquarters in Carthage, MO. The qualified candidate will display high emotional intelligence, strong business acumen, outstanding analytical skills, and strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the VP Finance to lead and improve the FP&A (financial planning and analysis) activity for the WFBU. Scope includes the annual three year strategic plan (strategic initiatives, operational budget, capital budget, and working capital initiatives), rolling 18 month forecast, and month/quarter-end reporting/analysis.

  • Develop, manage, analyze and forecast the Unit Office expenses and other operational budgets as required.

  • Backfill for the Grand Rapids Division Controller when that leader is working on acquisition integration, and assist with acquisition integration as needed.

  • Work closely with the local WFBU Shared Services team to improve processes and efficiency.

  • Balance financial and operational needs while developing analyses and insights that will help management improve business outcomes.


  • 4-year degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics required; MBA, CMA or CPA desired.

  • 3-5 years FP&A and/or manufacturing finance experience required.

  • Good understanding of financial (ERP) systems and IT infrastructure with strong understanding of financial accounting fundamentals. Experience with Hyperion a plus.

  • Expert excel user. The successful candidate will be the super user for the WFBU.

  • Desire to spend time on the production floor and the insight to connect manufacturing to the financials.

  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.

  • Expert Excel skills and the ability to convert data to information.
