Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting

Sony Pictures Entertainment's Corporate Financial Reporting group is seeking a talented and self-motivated Senior Financial Analyst to join the team. This individual will assist with the monthly consolidation and reporting of SPE's financial results (Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow) and management reporting. Reporting encompasses both internal reporting to senior management including the CEO and CFO, as well as, external reporting use.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead coordination and communication with the divisional finance groups to ensure timely, accurate, and complete reporting of financial information

  • Lead the monthly consolidation of Sony Pictures Entertainment, including the review and upload of monthly divisional submissions (supplemental financial information)

  • Review monthly topside adjustments/reclassification entries

  • Assist in responding to inquiries from SCA and Sony Tokyo on the financial results of SPE

  • Prepare financial and supplemental schedules for the Management Book

  • Assist with streamlining and improving the consolidation process

  • Assist in the resolution of SAP BW (SAP Business Warehouse) and BPC (consolidation system) software problems/questions

  • Assist in the creation/enhancement of financial reports generated from SAP BW and BPC

  • Assist in the maintenance of SPE's chart of accounts and profit center hierarchy

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial statement disclosures and communication of the reporting requirements to divisions

  • Assist with quarterly governmental reporting

  • Provide support for the annual audit and quarterly reviews

  • Complete various ad-hoc special projects

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting is required

  • CPA preferred

  • 2+ years of public accounting experience preferred

  • Entertainment Industry experience is a plus

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of the financial reporting process and experience with financial statement analysis

  • Flexible self-starter with a positive attitude and ability to work well independently and in a team

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a challenging, fast paced environment

  • Detail oriented

  • Very strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Experience with SAP, BPC and/or general accounting/consolidation systems

  • Experience using advanced Excel functionality and working with large datasets

The position is responsible for successfully consolidating, reporting and analyzing the results of the Networks division. This person will report to the Executive Director of Financial Planning and Analysis. Key Responsibilities: * Assist in the preparation, consolidation, and review of the Operational and Corporate Overhead/ Finance deliverables for the Financial Review Meetings (FRM), annual budget, and Mid-Range Plan (MRP) * Assist on all BPC related matters and queries (Integrated Planning, Liquidity Planning), working closely with Corporate Finance and International Networks Finance colleagues * Work with team members to improve automated Interim Planning System, including devising ways to modify existing system to support new requests and deliverables from Corporate Finance * Develop and provide input on ways to improve efficiency of FP&A processes * Working with team members, develop new financial reports and executive summaries based on existing data to provide better financial insight for management * Working with ED, develop ways to conduct proactive analysis, such as collecting additional financial and operational KPIs to track and consolidate to improve senior management decision making * Assist in Operational and Corporate Overhead/ Finance headcount Actuals/Forecast reporting * Assist in maintaining/updating Networks Channel Historical Database * Assist in maintaining/cleanup of Home Office Marketing & Research Budgets * Assist in analysis of Foreign Exchange fluctuations and their impact to Financials * Assist in special projects, ad hoc analysis (Networks Portfolio as a whole), and presentations as needed by management * Analyze monthly performance of the international network portfolio and provide variance explanations to budget/forecasts * Act as an additional point of contact by developing and maintaining relationships with colleagues in Corporate Finance, Accounting, and regional Networks finance teams Required Skills: * Ability to produce accurate, reliable, and high quality work in a timely manner; self-motivated and has a "can do" attitude and approach * Strong level of communication and interpersonal skills * Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are a MUST * Experience in budgeting and financial analysis * Strongly proficiency in MS Excel; ability to work with high volume of data from multiple sources * Proficient in MS PowerPoint and Word * Knowledge in working with mainframe GL accounting systems, particularly SAP * Ability to operate effectively in a cross functional team environment * Ability to identify issues and appropriate resolutions * Ability to translate concepts into actionable items * Strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
