JOB INFORMATION

Examine operations and technology costs and develop inferences and projections of financial performance. Determine cash flow, costs, profit margins, future cash flows, and alternatives based on varying assumptions and projected market or economic conditions. Use financial analytical tools to make projections of prospective financial performance. May use advanced or proprietary analytical tools pertinent to very specific class of assets or more complex economic operating conditions.

The COO Business Unit CFO team in Finance is responsible for providing financial management and insights to the Chief Operating Officer and the COO Division. Our team is responsible for analyzing and interpreting financial data, primarily operational and IT financial data, to provide insights and recommendations on investments and cost management to the COO and Divisional leaders.

As a member of this team, you will contribute towards achieving the team's objectives of driving best practices in budget management and providing insightful financial information used in making decisions.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Analyze financial, project, and other data to identify trends, understand correlations, and model future projected spend


  • Translate data and analysis findings into actionable information to be used by Finance, Technology, and Business leaders

  • Lead monthly analysis and reporting cycles to produce executive reporting; confer with colleagues and management to consolidate and synthesize supporting information

  • Analyze financial data for prospective purchase, asset allocation, fee generation or other cash flow, using typically industry/company standard analytical tools or measures.

  • Contribute analyses to reports being prepared for management to aid in making financial, client, acquisition, or other business decision.

  • Confer with business unit management and staff to acquire operating or financial data for analysis. Using this data, conduct standard or ad hoc analyses to satisfy variety of management objectives.

  • Lead or consult on month end analyses to summarize, reconcile, and report financial data from transactions, fee payments, accruals, or other cash flows, in order to track trends. May consolidate work done by other analysts into final tables or report.

  • Develop/prepare/continually improve quarterly forecast process for particular business unit, product line, client group or market segment. Report monthly actual performance against forecast and develop analysis for variances.

  • Develop queries to obtain financial data requested by users within the company, including the data validation. Coordinate the development of data files, the validation in the acceptance phase, and the migration of the data requirements to the production.

  • Play technical or project lead role on specific analytical project; provide guidance to less senior analysts; may provide input to developing business requirements for reporting, modeling, and/or applications needed to accomplish specific analytical or reporting objective.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • 6 years of related experience

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to various level of management

  • Strong analytical skills, able to synthesize large data sets into meaningful analyses and executive reporting

  • Flexibility as priorities can shift on a daily basis

  • Ability to learn new technology quickly

  • Ability to train, coach, and assist more junior staff

  • Prior experience with financial analysis and reporting is required

  • Prior experience with IT Finance and Technology Business Management framework preferred

  • Prior experience with Tableau and Anaplan is preferred

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business preferred

The Financial Analyst will perform at the Consultant level. This position will conduct cost analysis and trade-off studies, develop cost tracking procedures and track project expenditures, conduct feasibility and requirements analyses and develop life cycle cost estimates for new systems. Additional responsibilities are listed below. Responsibilities * Provide a cost analysis with respect to cost per student being instructed at residential training centers * Identify fixed and variable costs associate with the operation and maintenance of residential training centers. * Based on available supporting documentation, identify the cost to operate residential training centers in different scenarios * Establish models that will identify whether residential training centers are operating with financially efficient student-to-staff ratios and curriculum offerings. * Determine if the current Cost Operational Systems provide the level necessary for the managing agency to exercise adequate oversight of spending.
