As a Senior Financial Analyst

  • External Financial Reporting, you'll lead specialized Finance-related activities in support of multiple/large projects, functions, or major business units and product lines. Your supported area is a major element of the organization's business/operations. You will develop and/or oversee the preparation of highly detailed and the most complex analyses and research for financial forecasts, projections, and reports. Your assignments will typically provide exposure to the most complex financial concepts, issues, and activities.

  • Work closely with the Director of Accounting and Consolidation on all of the company's SEC reporting, including 10-K, 10-Q, 11-K, and S-8 filings.

  • Lead technical accounting research projects and help develop Herman Miller's position on new accounting pronouncements. Technical accounting projects are primarily focused on US GAAP, but may also include IFRS components.

  • Lead activities in support of multiple/large projects, including involvement in both technical accounting and implementation phases of various business combinations and divestitures.

  • Coordinate, oversee, and liaison with external auditors in order to ensure the accuracy of Herman Miller's accounting and reporting.

  • Provide support as needed on special projects as they arise, such as business acquisitions, divestitures, or new products.

  • Take responsibility for a substantial portion of Herman Miller's SEC reporting, consolidation accounting, and technical accounting matters.

  • Conduct activities in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and established Herman Miller guidelines.

  • Manage portions of the monthly consolidation and financial statement close process.

  • Confer with Leadership and internal business partners on unusual issues and situations, and in identifying reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate, oversee, and liaison with Herman Miller Finance, both domestic and international.

  • Develop and independently implement work strategies to achieve desired results.

  • Influence business decisions by effectively forecasting, preparing, and presenting financial forecasts.

  • Lead activities in support of multiple/large projects, functions, or major business units and product lines.

  • Leverage extensive internal and external contacts at all levels in the organization.

  • Take responsibility as needed for the review, evaluation, and negotiation of existing and new financial services or products utilized within the corporation.

  • Provide professional mentoring to less experienced team members.

  • Summarize financial performance, identify key performance indicators, and facilitate action plans to address significant risks and opportunities.

  • Work with cross-functional areas to identify and implement continuous process improvements.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

You might be just who we're looking for if you have...

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or an equivalent. A CPA and/or MBA, or CTP/CCM is preferred.

  • Six or more years of professional Finance experience.

  • A strong knowledge of US GAAP. Experience with SEC reporting and IFRS is preferred.

  • Experience with Workiva or other online SEC filing tools (preferred).

  • Highly developed and thorough knowledge and expertise in Finance area of specialty, resulting in the confidence to advise, influence, and partner with various groups to affect change, guide business decisions, and identify reporting needs.

  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.

  • Highly developed analytical skills to analyze problems and generate new ideas and solutions.

  • A demonstrated ability to identify, define, and resolve complex problems, projects, and programs, as well as the ability to identify trends and issues.

  • A proven ability to accomplish desired objectives and outcomes by influencing individuals at all levels, including internal and external management.

  • A demonstrated ability to establish and implement policy and procedures in key areas.

  • A demonstrated ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams and manage projects.

  • A demonstrated ability to use the office automation, communication, software, and tools currently used in the Herman Miller office environment, including a thorough understanding of financial software, Herman Miller information systems, and data warehouses. You'll also need the ability to use Business Intelligence tools.

The position will assist management in the development and implementation of a formal program to audit all areas related to inventory movement for integrity and accuracy. This individual will lead problem solving efforts and implement cross functional corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy. * The scope of this role will be to oversee Inventory Control, Receiving, and Shipping Operations. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Responsible for the effectiveness and efficiency of assigned operations, measured by safety, quality, delivery, inventory and operating variance * Create alignment on assigned process improvement across all shifts and departments related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals * Mentor Operations Supervisors * Works with plant management and functional managers on developing policy deployment action plans and helps funnel Lean activities in support of strategic goals. * Initiate, implement, support, and sustain continuous improvement initiatives across processes and or departments. * Manage the team's performance through evaluations, development, training, and promotions * Interview and select new talent * Hold team accountable through coaching and discipline.
