The Financial Analyst has responsibilities for supporting financial reporting within the Metal Forming business unit. The analyst will provide support to multiple group controllers. This will include reviews of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports. A successful candidate will work in a lean, fast-paced and rewarding work environment, where he/she will have the support and encouragement for developing a great career and achieving exceptional performance to help AAM reach its goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support financial activities for Business Unit reporting - review weekly, and monthly operating results including performance analysis. Build reports as needed.

  • Support review of the monthly financial forecast, annual plant operating budget, and semi-annual Five Year Strategic Plan

  • Review and assist as needed with quarterly Sarbanes Oxley assessments for the Finance Department. Assist with audits and open audit comments.

  • Significant interaction with plant and corporate personnel of all levels.

  • Support business case proposals and other ad hoc requests as needed.

  • Assist with Re-billable Tooling tracking and collection.

  • Provide Support for business systems and processes.

Basic Requirements

  • Demonstrated passion for manufacturing

  • Self-directed and self-motivated

  • High level of independent judgment and thought

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Established track record of continuous personal improvement

  • Some knowledge of budgeting, costing, and reporting systems

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • High level of analytical and problem solving ability where problems are unusual and complex

  • Knowledge of accounting practices and procedures

  • 0-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

  • College degree in Accounting / Finance

  • MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred

In this role the ideal candidate will act as a network and think innovatively while executing the following responsibilities: * Coordinate and direct the monthly financial forecasting activities of projects, includes: * Project revenue recognition (project base orders and customer engineering changes) * Working and supporting the project teams with forecasting of monthly project costs * Project invoicing and cash collection forecasting per specific milestones * Assist project manager(s) and management with understanding working capital/project cash flows * Prepare and present to management the monthly project financial summaries on an annual and total project life basis, includes presenting total revenues, costs, project margins, risks, opportunities, and contingencies * Analyze the monthly project forecast financials vs. prior month and annual budget * Review and approve, according to customer purchase orders, project invoice requests submitted by project management * Work with project management and account management to support timely cash collections * Analyze monthly project actual financial results vs. monthly forecast and annual budget * Promote financial awareness and accountability within the project teams * Support management with evaluating and understanding financial implications of project operating decisions * Ensure internal policies and processes are adhered to by project teams * Support Business Unit Controller and Project Control Manager with ad hoc financial reports, internal and external audit requirements, and other special projects * Work with project management and project teams with annual budget preparation * Other duties as required Reports to: Project Control Manager Do you have what it takes?
